  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Is there guy in JUB worthy to be worshiped?

A good chunk of that is probably due to the hyperlexia as a child and as such, my phrasing. Tho the autism probably doesn't help. You could benefit from a thesaurus though, they're great books. Broaden that vocabulary!

However I don't understand this, you see..when you about to spill vitriolic venom, my brain just can't process that seriously.

None of that was vitriolic. Did you miss the part where it was self-descriptive? I even avoided those beautiful four letter epithets I'm so fond of.

You posted this in "Hot Topics" where we can't post explicit pics? #-o ](*,) :spank: :slap:

Worship, like many other words, doesn't have only one monolithic meaning. The phrase "muscle worship" is what we're talking about in this thread. It has nothing to do with idolatry, or assigning a religious-type meaning to somebody, etc. . . . It was a different world.

Whereas that may true, "worship" certainly does have a primarily religious definition. And idolatry is subjectively applied.

Worship

noun
1. reverent honor and homage paid to God or a sacred personage, or to any object regarded as sacred.
2. formal or ceremonious rendering of such honor and homage: They attended worship this morning.
3. adoring reverence or regard:

The meaning of the word begins with religious context and moves outward into secular use as a secondary meaning. One may not simply make pronouncement that religious meanings are null and void. For a large swath of the population, language surrounding the sacred is not casually bantered about with the mundane or profane.

Thus the word "worship" remains a taboo for many people when casually applied. It may or may not be OK to utter "we worshipped the dawn as we sat atop the edifice." Even with an inanimate object such as "dawn," it may still contravene a taboo, as the true meaning of worship is reserved for the Sacred.

If I mean admire, or lust, or similar, I use those words. I don't mean worship, so I don't use that term with people, not leaders, not clergy, not the rich, not the beautiful.

And others may feel the same even sans religion. "Worship" carries with it a long history of abject devotion. We may teasingly apply it when describing infatuations, but few of us want to even suggest slave-boy connotations, as we have deep egalitarian values.

This is actually quite negative and bitchy.

And back to topic, I worship many people for a variety of reasons none of them heir loks. Of course I enjoy a beatiful thing like anyone but I don't worship tem just for that. There are some JUBbers I aappreciate and even I admire because of their characters, their minds or talent and some, in my very subjective opinion, very attractive but I don't worship them.

Well, just don't bait first ;)

As for you. Honestly, you're _ _ _ (3 steps close to my standard) ^^

@jpghost,

This is baiting- you're a fool.

This is self description- I'm hyperlexic and on the autism spectrum which is why I think quite a few people seem to have an issue in understanding either my writing or the tone of it.

There, 2 examples illustrating the difference.

This is an example of how you can better understand me- work on your English with a thesaurus. I'm assuming, probably to my detriment, that you already have a semi-firm grasp of lexical, formal and contextual semantics. I had to study them - pull up your big boy pants and do the same. You've managed to piss down your own leg, and my God is it unattractive.

And yes, I tell the same thing to native English speakers regarding the thesaurus and dictionary. They really are great books. Don't even bother trying to wriggle around that one, I'm pretty sure there's previous examples on the board of me typing identical suggestions.

I can't believe that so many people are commenting on this. It was obvious that he used the term "worship" in the slang sense and not the literal sense.

Ever the politician... fail.

The rest tl:dr

How else would you describe a baiting example? It was the least offensive word I can think of. If I wanted to be a bastard I'd be much more colorful and I wouldn't have said it was an example. Tho at this point I think a better grasp of language should be taught in schools. And to think I had to actually study for this shit and others take half-assed language use as a given right. Enough to piss a nun off in church.

Grammar and word choice is situational and organic. Samuel Johnson's dictionary is dead.

Actually, I suggested a thesaurus because he's an adult and he already speaks English. The words in the dictionary are far from dead and I used little slang here. The study of semantics is alive and well, and he needs to do it. So do a others when they miss sentences like "those two are examples" and "I called you nothing."

And hell, since I've got time, while language is organic it's also highly structured. Which is where semantics come in. Not the colloquial definition of semantics, either.

...I do think it's ridiculous that I describe myself and he gets pissy, though. I mean, come on. If I were to point at anything as an issue, that'd be it. If you can't tell when someone is describing themselves there's things that need work.
