I have an American acquaintance from another forum and I am on her 'mailing list'. She sends me stuff all the time and a lot of it has to do with American politics and religion and such. Most of the time, I simply take a peek at it to make certain it's not important and then delete it.

I got this Email this morning from her and I'm still trying to figure out why it's supposed to make Americans feel so proud since it insults just about everyone else in the world.

This says it all. If americans want us out of Iraq so badly I think this would be fair to congress and all of the people around the world that bad mouth our country for caring to much about other peoples lives. Lets just forget about the world and focus on us for a change. Good idea? Read on and u be the judge.

Subject: Wouldn't It Be Great???

WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR ANY U.S. PRESIDENT, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?

My Fellow Americans: As you all know, the defeat of Iraq regime has been completed. Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Iraq. This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now to begin the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short. The United Kingdom, Spain, Bulgaria, Australia, and Poland are some of the countries listed there.

The other list contains everyone not on the first list. Most of the world's nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.

Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war.

The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world Hellholes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.

Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France.

In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home. On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.

Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France, or maybe China.

I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France, Germany, and Russia. Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well. Bon chance, mes amis.

I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. You creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those t ickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York.

A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2. Since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not pissing us off for a change. Mexico is also on List 2. President Fox and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment. I will have a couple extra tank and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I am going to put em? Yep, border security.

Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty - starting now.

We are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we'll be drilling for oil in Alaska - which will take care of this country's oil needs for decades to come. If you're an environmentalist who opposes this decision, I refer you to List 2 above: pick a country and move there. They care.

It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, "darn tootin."

Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America. It is time to eliminate homelessness in America. To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thank you guys. We owe you and we won't forget.

To the nations on List 2, a final thought: You might want to learn to speak Arabic.

God bless America. Thank you and good night.

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier.

(Please forward this to at least ten friends and see what happens! Let's get this to every USA computer!)

If I might borrow a phrase from my friends on List #1. . . I'm absolutely gobsmacked!!

I wonder what list we'll be on long down the road when Sudan is doing better, and would like to thank those who helped?

I don't know if I want to be on List 1 ...

But I think who ever did that seems to have taken countries lack of participant in the Gulf war as personal rather than they didn't have any factual base on a reason to go to war.

I find it havign a go at 3rd world countries hilarious. There's a reason their classed as a 3rd world country and its not because they continuously come in 3rd at the olympics.

Best part: "On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth." Totally true. Just ask Osama Bin Laden and the Tali Ban.

But in all honesty no, no it would not be great to turn on my T.V and hear an American politician saying those things.

I think this is the perfect song for this thread

...and I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I can be free...

Jingoism kicks ass.

"I have an American acquaintance from another forum ..."

I'm guessing she's none too bright?

Either that or, if that's the sort of rubbish that makes her proud to be from the USA, perhaps she's a bit mental?

In her defence, the deleted name was that of her husband.

It just goes to show the either you are with us or against us mentality. If you have the nerve to say you are against our "war" in Iraq then you are an enemy and enemies will be dealt with harshly. That is not what I think America is about. This type of thinking is what has gotten us the great reputation we have around the world lately.
Although at times I think we all believe that we should tell the rest of the world to fuck off and leave us alone, there are alot of people who count on us and we should not leave them behind.

a little secret about Americans... the dumb ones, who don't know anything about politics or how governmental systems actually work, write e-mails and forward them to everyone they know and then pump their fists and say "AMERICA! FUCK YEAH!" and turn on their Toby Keith records.

the rest of us delete the forwards and roll our eyes.

Thanks for your comments, guys. I seriously thought I had misread the entire thing, or, perhaps, had read much more into it than I should have.

I think this is the perfect song for this thread

My thoughts exactly.
I must admit I like every song on the album, except for that one. It makes my skin crawl and my stomach turn.

Sort of like the e-mail did.

hmmm yes , kind of makes me wonder how long it will take before the war on Iraq is payed for, taking into account that the US government pays $28 billion a year on foreign aid?

I'll be proud when we are finally no longer under the power of a president who uses the phrase "darn tootin."

Pues si America, did anybody tell you yet your ass is fat?

Fox? Fox no están el president de Mexico. Nunca Mas. Es el Señor Obregon en este momento.

Fox? Fox is not the president of Mexico. Not any more. It's Mr. Obregon at the moment. Much further to the right of Mr. Fox. You gotta keep up Harke.

Hmmm well considering that we Canadians are helping the Americans in Afghanistan where the war STARTED... and not in the needless war in Iraq... and that we still have troops fighting your war on terrorism in Afghanistan... we'll put you on our own "list 2"

Oh yeah and considering our dollar is now stronger than yours... we'll use it for other things than helping to boost your economy.

For those complaining about the Iraq war, just remember, chances are there would have never been a war had the member countries of the United Nations actually followed the U.N. resolutions on Iraq. Had the U.N. members stood strong on weapon inspectors when they were expelled from Iraq, the question of weapons of mass destruction wouldn't have existed. Without the large profits certain member countries of the U.N. were making from sales to Iraq in violation of the resolutions, maybe the U.N. could have dealt with Iraq in a less destructive manner. Iraq certainly proved that the U.N. is good in theory, but doesn't work in the real world. All the members of the U.N. bear responsibility for the war.

Yes, many Americans are fed up with trying to help people around the world only to have them spit in our faces. I hate to see the loss of lives of our soldiers as much as anyone. I find it even more repulsive that the Iraqis are not assuming responsibility for their own country and at the same time act as though America is the evil empire for remaining in their country. Here's a case where we want to leave, they want us to leave, but they won't do what's necessary to achieve that. I'm convinced that they won't do it until we force them (i.e. a time table). If they don't step up, then they can go back to a Saddam style government for all I care. I guess that might explains how a leader like Saddam was able gain so much power in the first place. The frightening thing is that people in Venezuela are getting ready to vote to take away many of their rights to allow Chavez to remain in power. If the changes pass, Chavez will essentially become a dictator for life. Even if they believe he has been a great leader, can't they see the inherent problems in making such a change?

Then there are countries like Sudan where a teacher is found guilty and sentenced to jail time for allowing students to name a teddy bear Muhammad. There are even large groups protesting that the teacher should have been sentenced to death for this horrific crime. Why aren't they holding the parents accountable for not teaching their kids that the most common name in the country is too sacred for a teddy bear? Obviously these parents haven't brought their kids up right. Of course the issue really isn't about naming the teddy bear, but just an excuse to oppose western influences. The people obviously don't appreciate the efforts of the west to improve their lives, so why waste our efforts on them? I think Britain should cut all aid to Sudan and the U.S. should do the same in support of Britain. We should only help people who want our help and are willing to help themselves.

I don't agree with the email's author, but I do understand his sentiments. I find it funny how people are always protesting that the world powers should be doing something about the horrific conditions in many parts of the world, but when those countries do something, the same people protest the interference in those countries. There seems to be a lot of people like that on JUB. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Well I think we can rest assured that we will NEVER hear a U.S. president giving that entire speech, intact, on our TV's anytime soon.

Of all the most annoying and irritating types of people I can find in the world, two are Religious Zealots and Racists. The other happens to be American Extremists. Nothing irritates me more than a group of people that think they're better than everyone else. Unfortunately for the USA, they slide perfectly into that category.

EDIT: and to clarify any mishaps, and for the record, no, I'm not proud to be an American. In fact I find it embarrassing.
