OK, thanks anyway. I guess that's just another way in which the new software isn't as good as the old forum!
I wouldn't say that, exactly.

The new forum is a little different that vBulletin. And it's not just appearances.

Underlying the forum is a development platform and a much more stable database. Because it's a development platform, there's a large catalog of feature add-ons that we can take advantage of. We're no longer at the mercy of vBulletin's whims and if we find features that there's an interest in, we can look for add-ons that may create that functionality.

Are the groups still around?
We were in the process of phasing out groups in the old forum. In the new forums, public albums replace groups.

I have YET to be able to log in at justusboys.com, I have to log in at the /forum page.

Just came back to this page and I can't see any image that isn't replied to
One difference that we have noticed is that Albums in the new forum have to either be public or allowed to registered members in order for Album pictures posted in the forum to be visible to everyone else. Probably the person who posted them can see the images and he/she doesn't realize that they're not visible to everyone else.

The solution is to change the Album permission to "everyone" or "registered members".

I have YET to be able to log in at justusboys.com, I have to log in at the /forum page.

That's going to be a process to get working again. If you are logged in like me it is good but if you aren't you can't login and I can't logout but once you are logged in everything works fine. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Either I'm having a major sustained brain fart, of the quote function is not working for me. I hit the +Quote button, then I hit "insert quotes" beneath the reply window and all I get is this progress bar at the top of the page that runs indefinitely. Nothing loads. I just waited 10 minutes and nothing happened.
I think I may have found a way to workaround this. We do have the multi-quote feature enabled which is supposed to allow you to hit +Quote and then "Insert Quotes" on the quick reply composer

I noticed that I can start a post in the composer then click on "Reply" on the posts that I want to quote. Reply still inserts the quoted post into the compose reply box.

How do I change my settings, regarding Watched Thread posts, to *ONLY* receive a daily digest for EACH THREAD that has any posts? You know, like how it used to be? What I have right now, notifications coming in at entirely random times of the day, are more of a distraction than useful.

I'm not getting notifications from some of my WATCHED threads that get posts. For example, I've not had even one notification from the PUTIN'S RUSSIA thread in CE&P, though it continues to have posts. Getting an incomplete array of notifications is worse than getting nothing.

That means I have to do everything manually, which detracts from my user experience and comfort; it takes a few times as long to "stay caught up" as it used to in the pre-changeover days. I HAVE YET TO GET EVEN ONE "DIGEST STYLE" NOTIFICATION (like the ones that always came in at 07:10 UTC) for any thread since the changeover.

I get random SINGLE-POST notifications that sometimes come through on some days, which appear to be entirely capricious and unpredictable as to which threads they will come from, and they show up any time of day/night. I just want a daily digest. I see no way to state that preference, and I'd like to "hear from" more than only a fraction of my watched threads that get posts.

I see nowhere to do anything at all about notification preferences. Anybody who can help me through this?

Nor do I see thread preferences beyond the below (and I'm not even sure these pertain to THREADS):

  • Automatically watch content you create…
      • and receive email notifications
  • Automatically watch content you interact with…
      • and receive email notifications

    • All of which I've check-marked YES.
What are the "activity summary emails"?? The default does not have that checked. Are THOSE what I think of as the daily thread digests?

If somebody can help me to get back to daily thread digests, and comments/conversations, and that's all I need regarding threads...

Cool. I honestly never got the point of them even though I ran two groups.

I just encountered something that may be a default software setting by the site, an oversight by the setup team, or a limit of Hot Topics, or a limitation due to generic membership as opposed to JUB Supporter.

As I was posting the HIV thread, I noticed the dialogue box for tags, which offered a message that multiple tags could be entered by using a comma. So, I typed away about five, only to find a second message when I tried to post the thread, limiting tags to one. The two messages effectively contraditcted each other.

What's with the sliding orange line across the top when you TRY to add a quote to a new post?

I also have the log in issue from the main page where I get the 404 page not found -

BUT if I click on the "FORUM" page and go to the log in link on that page it works.

We are aware of the issue, Unfortunately we haven't been able to connect to two but hope to at one point.

...I've figured out why the celebrity thread was invisible. It was because I had the original poster on ignore. That's a bit odd though. I would expect to see posts by someone on my ignore list blocked, but not entire threads.
This is a weirdness about the forum software- the first post controls the visibility of the thread.

For example, if a moderator deletes the first post in the thread, it deletes the entire thread. We can delete any other post in the thread and it doesn't affect the rest of the thread but if the first post is unavailable, the rest of the thread is not available. I guess the logic is that if the first post is gone, then the rest of the thread doesn't have any context (e.g. if the first post is a poll or a question then the answers wouldn't make sense).

The same situation exists for ignore. If the person who opened the thread is on your ignore list, then the entire thread will be ignored.

I am a new user but when I want to add media it says I do not have permission
There are some anti-spam protections that will resolve when your post count is higher and the system sees you posting more often. What type of media were you wanting to post?
