It's some sort of issue with the file storage provider. It was happening a couple of weeks ago and was supposedly fixed. I've noticed that it has been happening again the past couple of days. We have a ticket open with xenForo to see what is happening.

That was happening with me as recently as yesterday. If you close the error message and click "post reply" again, your message should upload. The most I've had to do that for one post was twice.

That's exactly what I've noticed. It's not a fatal error, so just closing the error and hitting "post reply" usually allows the post to be updated.

We were getting errors from the same provider (CloudFlareStorage) a few weeks back that was blocking attached images. This latest error doesn't appear to be fatal and seems to be some sort of connectivity issue that comes and goes.

Can someone show me how I send pics in private conversations? In the forum I just click on attach files but there doesn't seem to be that option when it comes to private chat. It's probably really simple and I'm just being blind! Some help would be great thanks 😄

There are some features that are blocked at first to prevent spambots from creating accounts and spamming members.

Once you have posted enough for the forum software to flag you as not a spammer, there's more features that the software will start adding to your account as you continue to post. I believe that sending files via DM is one of those features that is added at some point.

Is there a way to get around having to click the lock icon, and then also click a forum? Yeah I know, we can't have little Johnny accidentally come across sinful sex pics and turn him into a budding homosexual, but other porn sites directly load to the good stuff without going through barriers.

Are you using Safari or Firefox for your browser?

Chrome. On an iMac.
It's likely Chrome's security and privacy settings settings. Can you post a screenshot of where you're seeing the lock icon?

If it's the "lock" icon that I'm thinking of, it was replaced with a "tuner" icon, so I'm trying to picture where you're seeing the lock icon.

The "tuner" icon.

Oh... you're starting on the main page.

With the new forum software, the forum is on a different server (forums.justusboys.com) than the main page (www.justusboys.com). That might be why you're getting a security error.

Try using this navigator toolbar on the main forum page. It also allows you to select what types of new content to view:

If you still see errors, we can dig deeper.

Yes, the bookmark started on the main page. I refreshed it to now open to HT, which fixed it.

Anyone know why I can't view other users' profiles? When I try, I get an error stating "You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action."

It's a frequently asked question. The answer is in posts #509/510 in the thread.
🤗

Short answer: to prevent bots from sending spam, there's an anti-spam feature that blocks this until there's enough "normal" activity for the anti-spam features to add new features to your account.

The reason for this is because on this forum they have a spam feature which indicates if you are a robot. And once you post more or like stuff on here then it will let them know that you are a real person and you'll ve able to view more on here

I'm having an issue with my ALERTS tab. I'll get the number of new alerts when I sign on, but when I click on the tab the new posts switch from "mark as read" to "mark as unread" and when there are 20some tabs that I've favorited, it gets annoying to have to figure out which ones I've read or not. I've been going through the list and marking each as "unread" but as I said, it gets annoying to have to go through the extra steps that I never had to do before. Thanks for any advice on correcting this glitch.

Review your Alert Preferences. Those options have recently changed through a software upgrade.

Our old forum software (vBulletin) had very limited notification options. The new forum (xenForo) is much more granular and gives each user the option to turn on/off which notifications you receive and how you receive them.

In your preferences, under "Settings by notification category: When someone…", there's about 30 different types of events and for each, there's an checkbox to turn off/off alerts, pop-ups and push notifications. When we moved to the new forum, we copied your old preferences but you may want to review them and remove any notifications/alerts that you no longer want to receive.

If you're someone who prefers to get alerts (which lights up the bell in the upper right hand corner), then use that "never mark alerts as read" checkbox in opinterph's post above. The default option for alerts was to mark them all read when you opened the alert activity. This made it difficult to tell which threads you had read because they were all being marked read automatically.

When you change to "never mark alerts as read", you can double-click on the bell icon and you'll see two tabs- one for you all alerts and another for your unread alerts. These tabs make it much easier to monitor the threads that you are watching and to monitor alerts that you receive when someone follows you or there's a comment on your profile, etc.

Your unread alerts will stay unread for 30 days unless either you open the thread to read it or you mark the thread with the "mark read" button on the right side of the screen.
