Italy; Love Them? Hate Them?

Italians are popular in Europe. They are seen as outgoing, friendly, optimistic, laid-back can-do people. They work hard (no, really) and play hard.

The French on the other hand, are seen as arrogant, imperialistic, sniffing stiff-necks. Just like the British in fact. I always found Americans were more like a mixture of Germans and Italians (that's a compliment) and not like Brits or Frenchmen.

So I cheered for Italy together with the whole city of Antwerp as I watched it on a giant screen outside.

i love italy,im italian after all!
the italian team played great!
and mostly i enjoyed the buffon and cannavaro hugs!
they are so hot!

The Italians have a worldwide reputation for being among the dirtiest players on the planet and everyone in soccer knows that. France was clearly the better and more aggressive team in the end outplaying Italy and on the verge of scoring to victory. The Italian team felt the pressure and Matarazzi resorted to name-calling France's best player, hoping to get something out of him and he did. Google Matarazzi's name and you will find out that this is one dirty player with a lot of tricks that shouldn't be allowed on the soccer field. Zidane shouldn't have done what he did, but Italy should keep the title, but France was a better team.

TRexx: what do you mean by:

"British officials"? The FA? The Premiership? The police? The BBC?...

"An organization generally regarded as the most corrupt in world sport". Which organization? One of the above?

Perhaps, after the disgraceful scenes at the end of the Valencia v Inter Milan Champions League game tonite, shown across Europe and thru'out the world, something radical might be done to save Italian football.

What is going happen tomorrow when Celtic play AC Milan at the San Siro, especially if Celtic win? Will people die?

The Italian FA, the Italian judicial system, EUFA and FIFA have done nothing but paper over the rot of Italian football.

And the scenes at last night's Roma v ManUtd game prove that nothing has been done by the the organisations mentioned above to address the rotteness in Italian football, and deal with it's "ultra" supporters.

Italy are the World Cup holders.

Read this thread. It's a lament for the once beautiful game, where a country so full of corruption and violence, can win the the World Cup.

And who is say that an Italian team cannot win the Champions League?

AC MILAN won the Champions League's cup and supporters of Liverpool won the cup of VIOLENCE again!

And to be fair to Liverpool they didn't deserve to get pointed out as that

*i am not a Liverpool fan*
