I have been recalling how Jacinda Ardern responded in New Zealand.

She called the shooter out as a terrorist immediately.

She had Assault weapons banned right after the shooting.

And she was there for the victims...not off playing golf.

Unfortunately for us the terrorists are also in the Police departments, the Justice Department, the Courts, Congress, and the White House.
 
It's not just Trump. It's Mitch McConnell and that whole group of obstructionists and hacks who constantly work against us. But offer their heartfelt thoughts and prayers without fail EVERY time this happens. Prayers don't seem to be doing much, are they?

^And Donald Trump, again in his obsession with trashing everything Barack Obama, is whining about all the mass shootings that happened under Obama and why isn't the media focusing on that? We have a sociopath in the White House... if his name wasn't Donald Trump and he hadn't been born to a wealthy developer to help fund him, he'd be dismissed as a total whack job who needs mental help in his own right.

It's typical narcissistic behavior. No self-examination. No acceptance of responsibility. Everything is someone else's fault.

There were some clips of his speech yesterday that compares it to all the similar speeches he gave after Parkland, Sutherland Springs and all the other incidents that occurred on his watch. The same person is writing the speeches and only the location changes (or in some cases, is mistakenly named as a different city... like Toledo).

LOL...That's hilarious!!!! I don't wish ill on anyone, but people whose policies hurt others...someone who is obstructing on electoral reform, supports unlimited corporate money in politics and does not support transparency and disclosure... someone who lies about denying Obama a Supreme Court justice because it's an election year and he insists the Senate must wait until after the Presidential election... then this year says, sure we'd probably push a Trump nominee through if it comes to it because the same party holds both the Presidency and the Senate... not really in a very charitable mood about very sympathetic because Mitchy hurt his shoulder.... oh, and did you know Mitch almost lost the use of his legs as a child and was able to walk only because his parents found a place that didn't worry about charging the hell out of working families in an age where health insurance of any kind wasn't available widely...but who strongly supports dismantling the ACA... nah, don't feel too bad about Mitch's boo boo!

Don't rely on Wiki. According to them, 1 death and 1 injury is counted as a massacre.
 
It's disappointing that the focus here is solely on the guns. By all means let's ban assault rifles. But don't pretend to yourselves that solves the problem. That mitigates the damage, nothing else. Just like cops in schools. Neither stop the violence. The gun is the tool, not the cause.

The right pretends that a "good guy with a gun" solves the problem, the left pretends that gun laws solve the problem, neither solve anything. White people in America have been massacring brown people since the very beginning - without the need for an AR-15.

Gun laws will help mitigate gun casualties, but racial violence won't be addressed by banning high capacity magazines. There are several things at play here - ammosexuals who equate violence with masculinity, usually exacerbated by racism and/or misogyny. Racism and/or misogyny, yes, mental illness in a very few cases, easy access to ALL kinds of firearms by children, crime of all kinds; most of which will be helped by better gun laws, none of which will be solved by them.
 
I grew up in a house with a bunch of those factors, and I am a gun owner, so why is it that none of us ever shot ourselves, someone else, or marched into a public place and opened fire? You can't legislate gun safety, the people who will obey are already safe. You can't legislate crime - obviously. We can mitigate damage as much as possible but the problems won't stop until the solutions start focusing on the why, not the how.
