It's not the guns.

...In reality, the region the Big Apple comprises most of is far and away the safest part of the U.S. mainland when it comes to gun violence, while the regions Florida and Texas belong to have per capita firearm death rates (homicides and suicides) three to four times higher than New York’s. On a regional basis it’s the southern swath of the country — in cities and rural areas alike — where the rate of deadly gun violence is most acute, regions where Republicans have dominated state governments for decades...

It would appear it is the guns.

Today in "It's not the guns"...

The gunman, who remains at large, was apparently shooting a rifle in his yard when neighbors asked him to stop because a baby was trying to sleep, San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers said. The suspect then opened fire on the neighbors, Capers said...

“The victims, they came over to the fence said, ‘Hey, could you mind not shooting out in the yard. We have a young baby that is trying to go sleep,’” Capers said.

The suspect, who had been drinking, responded, “I’ll do what I want to in my front yard.”...

Multiple people were shot around the residence, Capers said. Two female victims in a bedroom used their bodies to shield two young children who survived, he added.

Earlier this week in, "It's not the guns".

An Illinois man using a leaf blower in his own yard was fatally shot by his 79-year-old neighbor during an argument, authorities said, marking the latest incident in which people are gunned down while going about their everyday lives.

William Martys, 59, was using a leaf blower in his yard at his Antioch home on April 12 when he was approached by his next-door neighbor, Ettore Lacchei. The two argued, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said.

During the altercation, “Lacchei shot Martys in the head,” the sheriff's office said in a news release.

And returning to the South where "it's not the guns", either:

...the incident began Tuesday when a basketball rolled into Singletary’s yard and he yelled at the kids who went to retrieve it. One of the kids told his father, who then went to Singletary’s house and said something to the effect of “stop cussing my kid out, if you got a problem come to me and we can work it out,” according to three neighbors.

Singletary then walked inside, came out with a gun and opened fire at the neighbors, wounding a 6-year-old girl and her parents, the neighbors said... The 6-year-old girl, Kinsley, said she was hit in the cheek and described to WBTV her understanding of what happened. “I couldn’t get inside in time so he shot my daddy in the back,” she said.

Well, if you've ever had a neighbour use their leaf blower.....
Well, I do but I wouldn't... unless I lived next door to Rand Paul.

Here's why growing up on a farm threatens your life. You're always the first thing awake in the morning. I have been forbidden from running any small engines before 10:00 a.m. In my defense, it's cooler at dawn.

I have to say that although I am a firm believer in the right to farm...anything before 8am does rustle my jimmies.

Missouri/Kansas this week where "it's not the guns":

Online argument leads to shooting in rural area of Missouri:

Three teens shot in Kansas City:

Police officers shot in St Louis:

So, the coverage of the capture of the shooter who killed five people last week was interrupted with breaking news, just in, a live shooter in Georgia, on the run.

There are no words for that.

CNN is probably in heaven...if it bleeds it leads. Mass shootings are now so common and local that the regional advertising market is probably making a killing.

Friday's mass shooting was in Chico, California:

Six people were shot, including a 17-year old who has since died, at a large party in Chico, California overnight, according to local police. At around 3:26 AM on Saturday, Chico Police patrol officers were dispatched to an address of a large party in progress...

The victims included the 17-year-old girl who died; a 21-year-old man who was admitted into an area hospital and is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries; a 20-year-old man who has been discharged from the hospital with non-life threatening injuries; a 19-year-old man who was admitted into an area hospital and is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries; an 18-year-old man who was discharged from the hospital with non-life threatening injuries; and another 17-year-old girl who was admitted into an area hospital and is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Now waiting for the totals for Saturday's mass shooting in Allen, Texas. Expect double digits.

Article 2, Section 2:
"The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States"

Article 1, Section 8 The Powers of Congress:
"To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;"

Amendment 2:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

I wonder what well regulated Militia employed in the Service of the United States these mass shooters belong to?
I wonder what orders those shooters who belong to that well regulated Militia received from the Commander in Chief?
I wonder when those shooters in that well regulated Militia were called into the actual Service of the United States by the Commander in Chief?
I wonder what laws of the Union were being executed, what Insurrection was being suppressed, what Invasion was being repelled by those shooters in that well regulated Militia?
I wonder how that well regulated Militia was organized, armed, trained and disciplined?
I wonder how that well regulated Militia trains and disciplines mass shooters?
I wonder how a well regulated Militia stores, maintains, and distributes all of its hardware and equipment in Service of the United States?

The purpose, leadership, organization, function, mission of the Militia is clearly laid out in the Constitution.

I wonder how the right to keep and bear arms ever got interpreted as a no rules, no training, no discipline, no restrictions, weapon's free-for-all, when in the same sentence it is clearly qualified as being for a well regulated Militia - in Service of the United States?

^ The only bit that they remember, the only bit that matters to them is: "The right to bear arms."

At least nine people were taken to the hospital and an unspecified number of people died in a shooting at a Dallas-area outlet mall Saturday, authorities said. Brian Harvey, the chief of police in Allen, Texas, north of Dallas, said it was too early to give an accurate number of people killed at Allen Premium Outlets. The suspected shooter was "neutralized" by a city police officer who was responding to an unrelated call at the mall, he said...

Prepare yourself for the paeons of praise for the "good guy with a gun" who is absolute proof it's not the guns.

They won't say how many people got killed, but OBVIOUSLY, he was stopped.
