Don't know if you guys knew but NBC is planning to make a new Wonder Woman tv show. Shooting has already started and the pilot will air in September. Adrianne Palicki is playing Wonder Woman.

So today the costume was revealed (see below). I really like it. She needed those pants, and I like the blue boots instead of red. The only negative thing I could say about this is that her boobs still look like they might pop out if she runs too fast and that the costume is a bit too shiny, maybe they need to change some of the material.

Urgh looks horrible. Looks like they're not really giving Wonder Woman a fair shot.

^Someone posted on a board that the makeup artist said this pic was taken today at 1AM, so I'm guessing it is a quick snapshot with a regular camera and the costume will actually look a lot better on tv and in official photoshoots.

I have been a huge Wonder Woman fan my whole life. I know everything about the character. I am gonna give this a chance. The outfit isn't bad. They wanted a cross between her old suit and what DC is doing now in the comics. No matter what Wonder Woman will have camp. Just no way to avoid it. Hopefully the writing will be a bit darker. Joss Weadon could have done this right. David E Kelly makes me nervous.

I hope it goes better than their Bionic Woman remake a couple years ago. I actually really liked it but it was canceled pretty quickly.

I have a good feeling about this. Die-hard fans are complaining (as usual) but I have an open mind, and I'm glad you do too. I won't judge until I see the finished product, all I have to say right now is that I'm really excited they are bringing her back and that this is moving so fast already.

of course die hard fans are going to complain we have been through costume changes before and they are always a disaster.

This costume is DC pushing it since they changed it in the comics i think its a mistake.

No way is that a quick snapshot. Look at the skin. It's been shooped.

I agree. I just want to see Wonder Woman. I remember when there was suppose to be a Wonder Woman series after Lois and Clark in the 90's. I was so dissapointed it didn't happen. I just hope they get at least a full 22 episode season in. I want it to have a chance. It hasn't even been picked up yet from what I just read.

I love it! I was worried they were going to give her the current comic costume, with the black denim pants, black boots, and leather jacket.

When I first saw this photo, I thought Yes! Bright colours!

I wouldn't mind if they darked the tights a little, but I do like the metallic shine.

I hope this all works out. I can't believe we've had to wait 30 years for a new live action Wonder Woman. There are new live action versions of Superman and Batman every decade, sometimes on the big screen and TV simultaneously.

So THIS is what I've waited decades to see ???

Well this costume is more closer to the original then I expected it to be, so points there... but it's so... plastic... looking. IMO I think they over used the "W" all over the suit too.

It is leaps and bounds better then the current comic version (IMO).

Call me Hopeful, but skeptical.

Yeah a darker blue would be better.

Yeah it does look plastic, but I have the feeling it'll look a lot better on tv.

She looks like a hooker. Seriously.

Not really. if she was wearing the original baithing suit (say what you want people, it looks like a freaking baithing suit) I would agree, but I think the pants were needed. She needed some straps on the top as well, but I guess that would be taking it a bit too far.

A greek amazon warrior wearing a baithing suit with the American flag is a mistake, I feel it should have been changed a long ago in the comics to something more practical, so I'm happy these changes were made.

I'm interested to see how they'll translate this to the small-screen....

But I don't think I should be expecting something similar to smallville... but I am... :-/ I should know better.
You mean Smallville 10 years ago or Smallville now with all the heroes in their original suits? I don't think this is gonna be a origin story. Maybe it will be told in flashbacks? I read Artemis will also be in this. I also wonder if this is one of many suits she will wear? We might even see the original suit in flashbacks. I just have a feeling I am gonna like this. I have the 70's series and Wonder Woman was one dimensional. It went from episode to episode without any real storyline. Only Lynda Carter carried that show. There were no super villains except when the ant lady appeared. She just threw people around and did the occasional karate chop to the neck. She had no real challenges and Paradise Island was forgotten by the 3rd season. But that was the 70's I guess. All the shows had a basic storyline and the rest was new comers who had issues or problems that were solved in one episode. This will be episodic. I think we will see characters we never saw before but always wanted to. I would love to see The Cheetah. That wasn't a possibility with the 70's show but with this one it is.

Most people today just don't 'get' Wonder Woman. You have to fully understand her back story to really appreciate her.

Originally, she was raised in an idealistic society... pretty much 'perfect', and in harmony with each other, and nature. It was about as Utopian as life could get. They spent their time bettering themselves emotionally, spiritually, physically, and mentally. They were beyond petty squabbles and inter-conflicts.

... and then Steve Trevor accidentally crash landed on that island, and Diana fell in love. What could make ANYONE want to leave such a perfect place??? LOVE. Have you ever been SO in love you would do almost anything? Give up almost anything? HE was the incentive she needed. She was so in love, she aligned herself with HIS beliefs, hence, her costume was patterned after the emblems on his uniform... resembling the American Flag. She loves him, and wants to keep HIM safe, and better his world. Who hasn't wanted that for a loved one?

Her costume is skimpy, yes... but considering HER upbringing, there was no modesty, no shame, no perversion. Such thoughts are foreign to her. And with the lasso, she is the barer of TRUTH. The 'naked' truth. There is no deception. No lies. Nothing to hide. She is what she is, and will not apologize for it. (Wiggle room there for the times she has had a secret identity for plot reasons).

But in recent decades the writers have forgotten what it was that made Wonder Woman special.

They've killed off her mother (a couple times), killed off her relationship with Donna Troy (or perverted it), taken away her invisible jet, or worse, perverted it into something she couldn't have acquired herself by either making it an alien entity, or a gift from Batman. Is it really that hard to just make it a gift from Hephasteus along with her other godly gifts???

They've killed off the Amazons numerous times, taken away Paradise Island a couple of times, taken away her secret identity, which was her only real source to really connect and blend in with humanity. If you took away the BatCave, or Fortress of Solitude and made Batman and Superman be heroes 24/7, how exciting would they be???

Most heroes seem to be orphans - I personally LIKED the fact that she had a 'home' (Paradise Island), and a mother, a sister, and 'family' with the Amazons who loved her. Somewhere SAFE where she could go for interflection, love, and support.

I remember a time where while Batman was throwing everyone in jail, or Arkham, and Superman was beating the crap out of everyone, Wonder Woman was taking the villains back to "Reformation Island", showing them compassion, and trying to HELP them. Now she's just another brawler beating the crap out of everyone instead of trying to find their better side and showing some compassion.

Her whole reason for living in Washington DC made SENSE back then... to be close to Steve Trevor, and with her upbringing as the Princess, Washington DC was the closest she could relate to in form of government, the military, AND the architecture of the buildings resembling ancient Greece.

Everything that made her great, and what she is, and WHY she is the way she is they've perverted, or taken away from her, and then they wonder why no one likes to read her.

If they changed the core structure of other iconic mainstream heroes, and their costumes no one would want to read them either.

Ok... my Wonder Woman Rant is done.

^ That isn't her history NOW. Steve is not the reason she left the island in modern comics. Ares is the reason she left. Steve just got caught in the middle of it. She never loved Steve Trevor in the modern comic. He in fact is around 60 when she saves him and he ends up marrying Etta Candy. George Perez recreated Wonder Woman in the 80's when all the heroes got a reboot. He did a fantastic job. Get his first 4 trades and read them. They are the best written Wonder Woman's ever. And for all the other stuff DC has to pull out big events to keep readers. They do that with Batman and Superman also. Superman has been ruined even more then Wonder Woman has by recent writing. But like I said read the Perez run and though many didn't like the John Byrne run I did. I enjoyed seeing Wonder Woman's mother become Wonder Woman and even take her place in the JSA. She was killed as were all heroes who time traveled and corrupted the time line. It was how DC righted their timeline. And Jiminez's run was classic. He really knew Wonder Woman. He added some great emotional stuff that her book was lacking. Her run starts to get shifty and shitty when they started her off at number 1 again around 2005. I bought the trades and read them. WOW! Some were better then others but none memorable. Each writer wants to put their stamp on her. They want their run to be as memorable as Perez's run. But he didn't pull out shitty big events just to sell books. He was consistent in his writing and knowledge of the character. But Perez's Wonder Woman is long gone. She isn't naive or doe eyed anymore. The new Wonder Woman is adding characters to the TV show that are from the recent comics. This Diana will be wise to the ways of man.

Wow Borg69, you should be writing for Wonder Woman! ..| I appreciated your insight. The Reformation Island made sense that sets her apart from the rest of the dime a dozen super heroes.

I've mostly kept up with what Wonder Woman has been doing... and I did really like (most of) Perez's run - but still against removing Steve Trevor as a romantic interest in her life. Love is what humanizes her, and makes her relatable.

The made for DVD cartoon was awesome - it kind of pisses me off other people do DC better then DC does DC.

I don't mind squabbles between Diana and her mother/the Amazons, but think they should eventually kiss and make up in the end - and stop killing off her support. The invisible jet is highly under used, IMO. What a great concept! I remember when in a pinch, she'd use it mentally controlled to run into a villain. Rarely see that anymore. She also desperately needs a decent rogues gallery of her own. Personally I think Poison Ivy would be great, as would Silver Banshee.

I also personally miss the Lasso - spin costume change. It made SENSE. Why wouldn't she use the lasso to show the TRUTH behind who she really is ??? I understand why the TV show made HER spin instead - lack of special effects at the time.

The talking gorilla's, and the current talking black cat are just stupid and juvenile, IMO. What is DC's fascination with talking monkey's??? I believe MEN are the main buyers of comics... what self respecting male is going to want to read about juvenile, 'girly' talking animals?

LOL Thanks HunterM - I've been a fan since the 70's. I get overly passionate and protective over Wonder Woman. :)
