Re: Janet Jackson!

You can certainly hear his influence on her last album and seemed to want her to do a strictly R&B album. That irritated me because Janet usually mixes it up with her albums and if I hear him say "yall who this is" on another song.](*,)

I understand she's in love but keep him away from your next album.

i hope so too

>>>I can't believe how that tit bearing performance with Justin ruined her career.

It didn't. I hasn't seemed to slow down Justin any. She just needs to put a bit more thought into things. Taking off her clothes and acting horny isn't sufficient anymore - there are younger and hotter women out there for people to ogle. She can write good songs - she's proved that in the past. She needs to sit down, write some more kickass songs, and find a producer who isn't interested in showcasing HIS skills - but rather one who's interested in casting her songs in the best light possible.

Re: Janet Jackson!

Janet is/was my favorite artist, but I noticed a bit of a creative downturn beginning with All For You. I don't think she realizes how fierce she is, because for most of this current decade it seems as that she has been trying to prove how hot and cool and sexy she is. Janet has had astounding success and has nothing to prove. I wish she would realize that and just focus on good music like the good old day.

Re: Janet Jackson!

i read on another board shes releasing an album this year. but the title of it sounds 20 YO-ish........something like Life Begins At 40 or something like that.

i hope her new movie is awesome and it gets better after that

Re: Janet Jackson!

I heard a rumor that she is doing a song for the Rush Hour 3 soundtrack.

Re: Janet Jackson!

A radio station is playing, "All For You" as i type :)

"All my girls at the party.."

Re: Janet Jackson!

Hopefully she will come correct with something fresh and energetic. The singles from her last album ("Call on Me" and "So Excited") were pathetic. The first was a lazy rehash of Nelly's previous sing/rap hits, and the second was a mumbling, asthmatic mess.

Re: Janet Jackson!

I love Janet but have to say her last 2 albums weren't all that great.

When you listen to Damita Jo all the way through, it really isn't that bad...granted I could do without a few songs on the album, but that's with any album.

Re: Janet Jackson!

i agree, however i like her backup dancers. the thing im pissed about is that Jermaine cut alot of awesome songs out of latest album. i dont know why he did that. the ones he cut could of been singles and could of put her back on the map. but she went along with it.

I was really surprised out of all the songs that were recorded for the album, they only put 11 or so on there.

That's when Janet started taking forever to get an album out. I remember when she talked about cranking out albums in 2-3 months or 6 months and those were some of her best. Now, she takes a year and a half to get an album done. I miss that Janet that knew what SHE wanted when she went into the studio and not what the fans think are the best thing for her next sound. That was the mistake -- she actually listened to the fans and gave in (i.e. other producers besides Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis)

Re: Janet Jackson!

I thought "Call On Me" was a sad attempt to sell on ringtones. But it was bad. The vocal was soft and I think that Nelly, having done better duets, looked bad in this.

Anyone care to explain to me why some sites suggest that 'Together Again' is a gay anthem? Just curious. Thx.

"Call On Me" isn't up to par with what Janet's done, but Janet is one of the artists we expect A LOT out of because of what we know she's capable of. The song has had it success despite what people give it credit for. It's still on the Billboard Sales after all this time.

"Together Again" was written for her friends who died of AIDS and all proceeds from the single went towards AIDS research.

Re: Janet Jackson!

Thanks, Ryan. Just for the record, I adore Janet. I am still waiting for her big comeback.

Maybe she should try to work with others, instead of just Jim and Terry? I mean, loyalty counts. But variety matters too.

She worked with others besides Jimmy & Terry since the All For You project, especially Damita Jo, which had a large variety of producers. It was a great album, but not well received by anyone but her diehards. Like the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Re: Janet Jackson!

I was one of those people who was interested in hearing how Janet would sound with different producers. But Damita Jo I think was her weakest album (not counting "dream street" or "janet jackson"). I still haven't listened to 20 YO though. But I think Jimmy and Terry are probably best for her. Jermaine IMO usually produces very middle-of-the-road R&B. Sometimes he does really good stuff, but mostly his work is just OK.

i think the best songs from DJ and the best songs fro 20YO would of made one awesome album. one of the things im pissed about is that JD cut alot of HOT songs out. i had downloaded a few of those tracks and they sounded like classic Janet. those songs could of been singles and put her up there but being in love has clouded her mind.

Re: Janet Jackson!

I like Janet. :) I remember I was really down during the time she put out Velvet Rope and listening to it helped. I have to say I think she is the best dancer in the industry. Christina, Britney and others can barely be compared.
