On Topic Discussion Jared Fogle (the Subway guy) Pleads Guilty

I am not defending Jarod actions, but the magical age of 18 of consent is an American conservative, Christian (mostly evangelical and catholic) and puritanical political ideology and religious theology. In many southern USA states at this present moment a young girl can marry an adult male with parental written consent. Puberty has around the world allowed young girls to be wed.

At this time, the European Parliament is considering new laws to lower the age of consent to 12 years old or lower and also decriminalize incest under most conditions. It makes no sense to adhere to an arbitrary age of 18 and pretend that at a magical moment when the 18th birthday arrived that suddenly miraculously an individual is a consenting adult.

In Kentucky, in the 1960's a 12 year old first cousin married a 25 year old man with her parents consent. They had five children with a horde of grand and great grandchildren now. Both parents are now deceased but they were and are a normal family. This is only one example to my knowledge. My mother's sisters married at 15 and 17. My mother wed at 20.

I used to work at Subway. One of the most tiring jobs that I ever had done.


Waking up early in the morning to making the bread, dough, preparing the food.....and the cleaning and washing.....cleaning the greasy,oil-stained oven.....


And Subway isn't really that healthy. All the meat, patty, meatballs.....they are all frozen, processed food.



Well, I guess if you work in Food and Beverage industry, it's bound to be a very tiring job.

I don't know where you got the European Parliament information from, but they do have any involvement in age of consent in the member states. Either way, no western European state will be allowing 12 year olds to go with adults as most have a tiered system. So for instant a 12 y.o in Netherlands (14 most places) can sleep with someone up to the age of 16, but no older. Once you get to 16 you can do what you want. They are not allowing for 12 year olds to marry adults....
 
Such a shame that he abused his "power" like this.

Think about what he built up for himself and then destroyed.

Such an interesting story. The whole "I ate Subway sandwiches in college to lose a ton of weight. Then they hired me as their spokesperson." Etc.

Then I guess he was a major player for some children's weight loss organization (I'm too lazy to look it up, but this is what I read.)

To have all this and just throw it away. Thinking you possess this omnipotence to procure whatever you wish even though it is morally and ethically reprehensible.

I think the reporting has shown bias. When Jerry Sandusky, Penn State assistant football coach, was reported to be molesting boys, I don't remember ANY mention of abuse towards "children." The reporters ALWAYS said "young boys" and yet for Jared I keep hearing or seeing "children" at the top of the article or news report and then only towards the end is there a clarification that he molested girls.

To me this puts the idea in the public's mind that he was molesting boys as well and he wasn't. Boys, girls, it's all bad but I know that in the public's mind, male homosexual pedophilia is somehow worse.

While religious right people will undoubtably say the above re; gay & pedo behavior (and the same about girls and women lieing/asking for such assault) there's also that every woman I've ever heard or even tangentially been aware of gets painted with the 'she asked for it" brush, not just from the religious right but from everybody. Doesn't much matter how he meant it, it matters who reads it and what's taken away from it and I'd like to curb that behavior in public because it's something I've heard before in 'rl'. some gay guy will want to say something about "No boys, yay!" (someone always does) to that effect and there's a pretty good possibility that whatever woman heard him just got a damn near irresistible urge to kick him in the nuts. Because even the girls and women who co-sign into the socially approved magical-thinking of "if I do this I'll be safe." Isnt so far gone as to think a sentence that dismisses harm to girls is okay.

There's a diff between "Sweet, gays aren't automatically getting tarred" and what was typed. People need to work thinking before speaking, writing included.

My mom married when she was 15 (mid 50's). Don't know how old my grandmother was when she got married the 1st time. Things were a whole lot different back then.

The difference was that Sandusky was a football coach. Look at the shit that ball players do that would get the rest of us landed in jail.
