Jean Grey- The Phoenix

She's been dropped from the film. So was M (who was supposed to be played by Mercedes McNab from America's Next Top Model :( *sniff )

Blue Lantern, the comic you'd be looking for would be New X-Men Issue 116. It's in the first big volume or in the E is for Extinction paperback.

As of now, I think everyone is considering Phoenix Endsong to be the last story of Phoenix/Jean. The sequel, Phoenix Endsong II (no idea when that's coming out) will probably deal with the mysterious Cuckoo who inherited the Phoenix at the end of Phoenix Endsong I.

Nope. There's no way they could anyway, since Astonishing is only 2 issues into it's new season.

Joss Whedon's still writing it, isn't he? Does it still come out monthly?

Yes and yes.

He's doing a fantastic job, but the errors in 'Gifted' really upset me. Emma's diamond form does not have psychic abilities! It happens in two different settings!

I wish they had given Emma psychic resistance like when she faced Cassandra Nova or when they were being exterminated by Gladiator, and they implied she did, but it's been made clear in previous New X-Men debacles that she's very/just as susceptible to psychic attacks.

*sniff

If only...

That's kind of dumb of them to do. Emma can use her diamond abilities on the Astral Plane, so the reverse should work. Ah, well. That can be a plot later on, I guess.

That's only in the game, which is really non-canonical. I like that she has limits in her diamond form, but I really wish that she had psychic invulnerability. That would be a nice touch. Originally her diamond form was only her skin, so she had an exoskeleton of diamond, but it later got changed to her being able to tunr completely into diamond.

Emma turns into diamond while on the Atral Plain with Jean in the 'Nuff Said issue, I thought. She has this weird sheen and is physically fighting something while Jean discovers the truth about Professor X and Cassandra Nova. At least, Emma has this sheen in her pictures.

Regardless, I like how they fixed Emma's costume. The hotpants and the weird top were so not her. It was brilliant to bring her cape back like her Hellfire Club days.

Oh, you're right. I don't think it's a real manifestation of her diamond form, since the astral plane works on suggestion and metaphor, so I think it's a power Emma has realized on the Plane, but doesn't really mean she's using the diamond form.

Which Emma outfit did you like best? Hellfire Club, Gen-X, New X-Men or the current Astonishing?

I'm a big fan of the New X-Men outfit when it's drawn well. Especially when she has the snazzy coat over it. It amkes her look revealing but classy. So this is an example:

But her Astonishing costume looks fantastic, evenw hen she doesn't have the cape:

Sorry to jump in this late but here's my 2 cents. Jean died with the Phoneix at the End of the Dark Phoneix Saga. I like to wash away the whole cloned body. It was Jean who killed those millions. PS haven't read it only going by what I have read online. Back to my point. Jean and the Phoneix are one in the same as Jean wields this primal force and gives it emotion love etc. The force is simply a force until a host adds to it and in regards to a secondary mutation Jean was the first to have one I was either her Telepathy or Teke that came later or so I've heard.

Actually, Jean's body was entombed in a type of sarcophagus at the bottom of the ocean and the Phoenix Force absorbed the whole of Jean's mind into itself to replace her. After its rampage, the Phoenix Force, with Jean's feelings and such, felt that the only way to protect the world was to destroy herself.

The Phoenix Force went to restore the real Jean, but was rejected because Jean's comatose body felt the torment and horror the Phoenix Force had caused. After that, it found the comatose body of Madeline Pryor- the unconscious clone of Jean Grey, and gave her life. She married Cyclops, went insane and tried to kill everyone, and Jean ended up absorbing all the memories of herself, the Phoenix, and Madeline.

Luminum, I liked the New X-Men costume in the picture you posted; I hated it when she was wandering around with the boots, the shorts and that top.

That is pretty funny! Though I agree the telepaths have some pretty immense power they can expend before their morning cup of coffee

So just a question, but does Rachel wield the Phonix Force? Or does she wield a shard of the Phoenix Force? Or does she just have TP and TK that looks like the Phoneix Force?

They used to say she inherited a part of the Phoenix Force from Jean. If you read the old issues of Uncanny and into Excalibur, she always manifests the wings, and sometimes the body, but never the head. There was a special issue of "What if?" where the Phoenix didn't die, married Scott and had Rachel (who's powers developed as a toddler, I think). So in that one she was technically a half-Phoenix, if it's possible.

During either The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix, or The Further Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix, Rachel gives the Phoenix back to Jean (which she manifests as the Phoenix Raptor, IIRC, circa when Cyclops was possessed by Apocalypse). When Rachel got her miniseries about how she founded the Clan Askani, she gives the Phoenix to one of Apocalypse's henchwomen (I think it kills her or something) and then it leaves for the stars, allegedly forever, in its full force.

They never seem consistent with it because now, as Marvel Girl, Rachel has no Phoenix power, but remembers possessing it (though she died after giving it to Jean in the future). I think it, like Jean's abilities with the Phoenix, is contingent on just how they want their story arc to progress. In Marvel, Jean was the most powerful user of the phoenix, and Rachel was never able to exert the same control her mother did over it. Weird, huh?

Very. Because I think they've made it canon for Rachel to exhibit the Phoenix mark over her eye when she uses her powers, but without the Phoenix, the whole thing makes little sense.

Isn't weird that Rachel's first Phoenix outfit of choice was the Dark Phoenix color scheme?

Rachel always wore red. When she donned the Phoenix costume in Excalibur, she had the green and says it's not her color (she may have gone as far as to say it was her mother's color), so she went with the color that looked better one her. If I recall correctly, Kitty and Kurt have this look on their face of sheer disbelief (as they were the only members of Excalibur to have actually seen Dark Phoenix)

And as we can see in your signature, Jean tended to go with red and gold like Dark Phoenix a lot, too. The green one was probably a nod to her Marvel Girl days. From what I understand, when they brought Jean back to the X-Men, she was going to have a totally bizarre costume. They pitched the idea, gave Storm the Marvel Girl cape, and Jean eventually became Phoenix. (I have the TPB of when Professor X recruits Storm, Wolvie, etc. to be the new generation- in the back it has all these cool designs for rejected characters and costumes, as well as notes for the "new team")

Oh my God. Could you scan those?
