Jersey City/ New York City 2013

Awww, too soon for me, and during the school year. Would love to do something in that general area though at some point in time (April-August)...I'll definitely keep an eye open on this/these threads!
 
Thanks Callum, appreciate the interest though sorry the timing doesn't work for now at least. Hope there are a few who can attend but would be absolutely for doing something in the springtime too if this can gain some traction. They had a Toronto meet a few years back that I believe had over a dozen Jubbers from several different countries. It's really puzzling why this can't be a regional happening a few times a year for greatest convenience for the JUB membership at large.
 
Sure Thad, Penguyen.. if you can make it those two days it would be great for you to join in on the fun! Thad was at the Portland meet in August 2011 as well as Frank and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting him and would love to see him again!
 
HEY, COOL...this might actually be evolving into a Meet!!

I'm eagerly looking forward to it. It's happening during a week when I'm planning to be doing a whole ton of stuff in New York City and very nearby, this is a trip I make every two or three years. Maybe I should ask if RationalLunacy (who I'm in touch with) and his OH might be interested.

It's happening!!

Yeah, I wasn't around for the Toronto one, I don't think...wasn't a member then. I wouldn't mind meeting in Toronto, either, but I don't have time to plan anything these days. :'(

But a little off-topic...I REALLY want to go to the Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando, but I have no one in my "offline life" to go with! I've asked everyone! I can't believe I've never heard of it until now. So if anyone is from around there or is going, I'd take a weekend!

Traveling all the way from Cleveland? Wow, that's so cool if you do! You should try to talk JohnB into coming with you - if, of course, you happen to know and be in contact with him (which very easily may not be true). Would it be your first time visiting New York City? It is a truly magical place.
 
I've been to New York three times spread out over many years. As a kid my parents took us to Coney Island, many years ago I took a bus trip to New York City with some co-worker friends, and a few years ago I went to New York by myself. There are still many things I haven't seen.

I've seen a few of JohnB's posts but don't know him and am not sure how to contact him. I could probably drive him if he wanted to go. Maybe I'll see if I can contact him.
 
No, I don't know how to contact JohnB. He would be about half an hour from me. Alister would also be about a half hour from me in a different direction, but I think that I just saw in a post that he had just been to Virginia.

Oh my God...you're right!

I just tried sending a message to JohnB, both about our conversation and about the meet of course...and when I finished putting the "JohnB" part into the recipient box, JohnB didn't come up as an auto-complete option! Could this mean that he is no longer on this site?

That would suck...always sad when we lose one of the "good guys" in here.
 
To any of our out of staters we have several good hotel options near the Jersey City downtown area which would be a little cheaper than staying in NYC... ferry or train service into Manhattan is very close by as well. We have on Washington Boulevard the Newport Westin, also on Washington Boulevard we have the Marriott Courtyard and the Doubletree... also right by the waterfront off of Exchange Place by Owen Grundy Park(overlooking the Hudson River and Manhattan skyline) there's a Grand Hyatt. If interested in any of them I can post the phone numbers in this thread if there's no problem with doing so.

Yeaaaa...I was just putting his name in wrong, that's all. Now I officially sent him a message asking if he thought he might be able to make the trek, though I SERIOUSLY doubt that he can get away like that on such short notice.

But yes, that would be great if he could be added to the list of those going.

Frankfrank, rick, Thad, Penguyen so far.... hopefully more. This isn't going to be a formal meet with a scheduled itinerary, but loots of walking, subway riding, spontaneous fun. Anyone is welcome and it should be a blast just enjoying some time in the Big Apple!:D
 
I'll be there for sure Saturday. I'll try for Friday too but it may be just the one day...since it's the end of the quarter. There are two accounts who get inventoried the end of every quarter and I will try to have one of them go without me!
