On-Topic Jill Stein just called for a recount in 3 states Trump barely won

Is that some kind of badge of honor? You guys keep saying it like it means something. It doesn't in any way that matters. We don't go by the popular vote. We go by the EC.

That HRC won the popular vote is worth consideration for it evidences the free choice of the individual voter, to vote their overwhelming preference for HRC. That the EC reversed the result of the voters' choice suggests to me that the system needs to be updated to reflect the will of the individual voter.

Yes it is a badge of honour, because the electoral college is an arbitrary system that has flouted the will of the majority of citizens of the United States at critical juncture points.

There is nothing rational or logical about it.

You can parade it around as a hallmark of the American Republic all you want, but the simple fact remains, without the majority of people behind your presidency, you really have no mandate from the people.

So as Trump demolishes health care, stacks the federal courts with right wing morons who will undo 50 years of social progress and probably, like Bush in his first term, allow himself to be manipulated into getting the US embroiled in international conflicts all around the globe...he has no legitimate right to do any of this.

Enjoy the ride.

2.6 Million popular votes does indeed mean something, just because the EC decided on the opposite doesn't meant the popular doesn't mean anything.

As already said, the EC is outdated and needs to be reworked, though it will never happen. Considering the only people that care about it in its current state are the ones that benefit from it. As it is all the EC proves to a lot of people is that their vote doesn't matter, when the popular vote actually says it does and only proves that we have a fucked system.

Okay. Then now is the time to change it. If over 50% people should be against it as you say.

The problem is you guys only seem to care when it works against you, but love it when you win the EC.

Well personally, I am not that fickle. Regardless of who wins because of it doesn't change the fact that it is outdated and won't change under the party that benefits from it the most.

It requies 75% of the state legislatures to amend the Constitution. The smaller states will never vote to be tyrannized by the larger states. The compromise has worked for 227 years, holding the nation together. If the big democrat states insist on dominating more than they do, perhaps it is times to disolve the union. Let them have their socialist dictatorships.

1.5 million of Hillary's excess margin are from New York Cily alone showing how necessary the EC is to keep a few cities from tyrannizing the country.

So what will happen when the contributor states leave the states that drain the rest of our funds?

Seems like a state like Mississippi and other red states that complain about Government Spending and who ironically take the most from the blue states that give the most shouldn't have an equal voice....

Maybe chop out the middle of the country and make it the White Supremist States and then WE can build a wall to keep YOU out.....

What is this 'You guys'

The only time there is a good clean win...it is when the popular vote and the Electoral College are aligned.

Which has happened when the Dems won the Presidency.

What you like to forget is that a large part of the people recieving the welfare in places like Mississippi are black, hispanics and other democrats. Without democrat dictates from Washington, Mississippi would be free to end the welfare and the democrats would move to democrat stares to get back on welfare.

Related to this citation...this is the map that the Democrats should be studying very carefully.

Looked at that map,
looks like the republicans owned most of the land mass in America ...

They should use the colour shades which are more accurate.
Like dark red to light red and dark blue to light blue.
In that case most of the colour are light red (less populated area), and dark blue ...

Didn't realise they were being held hostage.

And yes, I imagine smart people would move out of the resulting shit bowl.
