Did not see the story nor Morning Joe but rather read it after the fact on HuffPo

I recommend watching the video (on the attached)

It appears that we have a "Kill List" that Pres. Obama personally reviews and makes decisions on who's on or not - drones take care of the kill

Evidently it was on the front page of the NYT and in Newsweek

Pres. Obama had wanted to close Gitmo and stop torturing - now he's personally choosing who is to be assassinated

Joe S is against it - the rest of the panelists are OK with it

I can see both sides - the pro is Pres. Obama takes "responsibility" vs. "not my job"

The negative is the unseemliness of the President being actively involved in this

what to do ???

what say you?

Joe Scarborough On Obama 'Kill List': 'I Wonder How This Is Going To Look Ten Years From Now' (VIDEO)

At first I thought the thread title was saying that Joe S was on the kill list himself.

I saw a little of this today on Morning Joe and also skimmed the NYT article.

Joe was very cautious in not to say that he was criticizing Obama.

Joe painted a picture about how Obama studies every person he wants to kill -- compared it to studying baseball trading cards, I remember. He also talked about how Obama authorized the killing of a 17 yo girl.

It also seemed they spent more than the usual time on this story -- however, I was busy at the time and didn't have my full attention on the screen.

I also wonder, along with Loki how the left will digest this -- it puts Obama in the same dark dungeon as they see GW Bush.

PS: I expected some chat about Obama's Memorial Day Speech in which he shamed the 60's left for their disrespect for returning VietNam soldiers --- however, I didn't watch the entire show.

what and leave Morning Joe without a conservative ? ;)

Thinking Mika would probably give that pick a thumbs up ;)

Obama's secret kill list is the biggest story of the week other than the continuing mass murder in Syria.

However .. .. .. ..

Tingles is still obsessed with Mittens.

Who knows what the Rev Al is talking about - (have you noticed his hair is more poofed up in the back -- starting to look like the headdresses of King Tut and his wife)

mediamatter.org is obsessed with Trump

dailykos.com is obsessed with Mitt too

Who's going to cover this big story about Obama and the trading card kills?

Where's the outrage liberals?

Who knows, he might be after his show this morning.

The article said that a 17 yr old girl was on the list, not that Obama approved of her being killed. It doesn't say one way or the other.

Obama criticized Bush for aggressive interrogation, I guess this his substitute.

it's a weird state of affairs when having a Republican president might actually be better for civil liberties.

Unless you are gay, then of course, religion will "Trump" civil liberties

After first assuming we should even be doing such a thing, I can argue it either way, for or against the president being personally involved. My real concern is that it's just an extension of the Bush policy -- maybe we should label it "The Obama Doctrine": assassination by government order.

attack the president on principle that is ok - but the minute it becomes a partisan game is when you lose all credibility.

Didn't Obama promise a more open white house?

Do you really think that Presidents haven't been offing enemies for the last 200 years? It just became a clandestine type evolution at the dawn of the 1900's.

I personally like the idea of the Boss taking not only credit but the burden of decision upon his own shoulders.

I wonder if he wakes up at night and sees the faces.

In a sense it is, part of the speculation is the White House wants to distance itself as much as possible from rendition (torture by proxy) and Gitmo but still wants to look like they are taking the war on terror seriously. So, the result is moving to a 'take no prisoners' approach for dealing with terrorist targets.

agree

it's on HIS watch right? whether he's picking the individuals (or helping) or not

His left will hate it but not vote for Romney because of it

And he will appear more "tough" to moderates - not a terrible thing

It's a scary world out there

He should be imprisoned for assassinating an American citizen by drone attack in Syria...

The NON Americans -- I'm not really sure about the legality there...

jmo...

Well, on the one hand, guess we can't say Obama is soft on terrorists or doesn't have the stomach for what needs to be done, if we want to accept this must needs be done. Compared to what Dubya and Rummy did with "Shock and Awe" -- killing anything that moved in Iraq -- Obama's "Death List" seems rather considered and limited, by comparison. Compared to flying planes into skyscrapers or working hard on nuclear weapons, it is realtively focused. Ironic that the Republicans are incredulous at such an approach. The Administration tried to close Gitmo, but the Republicans in the House went crazy at not keeping men locked up indefinitely on our own "Devil's Island" without charging them, or trying them....perhaps forever. Sounds like a moral and ethical pot and kettle scenario.

The reactions of the Right will be typical. The Right, who are tough on Foreign Policy, will be against a Kill List ... simply because Obama is doing it.

The Left will be fine with it.

Just another case of football politics ... where it becomes apparent that everyone does not possess any true principles, but rather where everyone simply cheers on their home political team, no matter what.

If Bush had a "kill list", the Right would embrace it, whereas the Left would feel this would validate their opinion that Bush was a "War Monger" (a term I don't necessarily disagree with as far as Bush goes, btw).

I have yet to see that

I don't think you will see it

It would be too hypocritical and counter to what they (in general) believe to be just

Oh that's an interesting notion!

Though dead people are harder to interrogate....

I generally find the Right to be very hypocritical. Not that the Left isn't either, but I find the Right to more so be hypocritical than the Left. Their mentality has lapsed to the point where "if Obama is for it, we are against it."
