John McCain: The Only Great Man

My, my, my! Where to start?

He doesn't know how to use the internet.

He doesn't know that Czechoslovakia is no longer a country.

He doesn't know the difference between Sunni and Shia.

He doesn't know much about the economy.

He's uninformed about women's health issues.

He doesn't know whether he's for or against gay adoption, stem cell research or setting a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq.

He doesn't know what countries share a border with Pakistan

He doesn't know when the surge began.

He longer objects to waterboarding or closing Guantanamo.

He doesn't tell the truth about his votes on veterans issues.

He said Putin was the leader of Germany.

He thinks alternative energy means switching from regular to premium

He says he knows how to win wars but he hasn't actually won any.

His idea of a funny joke is suggesting different ways to kill people in other countries.

He wants to keep giving tax breaks to the wealthy but not the middle and lower class

He confuses Somalia with Sudan.

He thought voting for the Iraq war was an exercise in good judgment.

He once said "I disagree with what the majority of Americans want."

He thinks Social Security is "a disgrace."

His idea of health care is apparently "take more vitamins."

He voted to support Bush's policies 95 percent of the time last year and 100 percent of the time this year.

Over the course of a single week he unfairly attacked both his opponent's patriotism and his humanity.

He has not been present for the last four months to cast a single vote in the Senate...a job that he was hired to do by the people of Arizona and he is being paid to do by the people of the United States.

He thinks keeping American troops in Iraq for the next century is a good idea.

Oh yeah, that's a really "great man' you've got there. ](*,)

A lot of "He doesn'ts" and a "He confuses".
Thanks, that's "the only great" post.

Being a great man doesn't necessarily make you a good president. Eisenhower was a great man and an average president. Grant was a great military leader and an awful president.

But we don't have much to choose from this year. We have bad and worse from the two parties.

I'm sorry this video is so long (9:29) but it's a "must-see" to help you decide Senator McCain's supposed "greatness." The key and most telling point is made at 9:01.

Good stuff. Time for Chance to mumble the safe word and stop enjoying the pain. LOL.

To all - im back - just got in

the above posts reminds of something David Brooks mentioned in his speech to young conservatives (some kinda conference in DC i think)

he said conservatives like people - like to make friends - be amiable - have other interests - enjoy a good meal and conversations - like to talk to those who disagree with them - and look at the positives

then there r liberals .....................

i won't fill in the blanks

hehe

I feel McCain is a tired out neo-nazi that wants to continue to destroy lives and homes in the middle east who will be having a heart attack any minute now. He wants to DESTROY LIVES AND MASS MURDER people! The innocent lives in the middle east seem to have no value for many Americans who would rather shrug their shoulders. So what.. he served in the war.. I see alot of people say oh he's such a hero.. he fought in the war! I have many friends who have a father that both died and lived thru the vietnam war. Fighting in a war does not make you more qualified for presidency. It's a great thing.. but why does it make you more qualified to take control of a nation? And for McCain to say we are the greatest nation.. is SO ignorant.. being patriotic is one thing but to be so arrogant to make other nations feel inferior... to feel you can police the world... There is no excuse for that.

and chance1 dont you have a response to that long list of things that mcCain is against and isn't sure about?

Really? Because that's a 180 from my experiences. One of the reasons I left the GOP was because of the provincial, elitist, and (yes) homophobic attitudes I encountered during my college years (1979-1983).

The many convivial, open-minded, and joyously argumentative people now in my life would (for the most part) define themselves politically as "liberals." The few gay conservatives I know are (for the most part) angry, bitter and misanthropic.

I like it much better on this side of the chasm.

Over here, I'm a person...not a target.

Can I hear a hearty here-here here? :)

hard to take u serious cher - sorry but it is - and i bet im not alone on this

he's a neo nazi?

if he's a neo nazi then im str8 as an arrow - ok?

as for fighting in a war - no it does not qualify u for pres - but his heroism/courage/bravery exemplified by his time in captivity ...........

well those r great qualities - u cannot teach that - and i would love for our president to have those qualities - they r qualities of strength and character - both great things

and we r the greatest nation - BO may not think so - but JMac does and so do I - and u clearly don't know the man - he is anything but arrogant - he is in fact humble - do u hear him mention his son Jimmy who served in Iraq - no - he does not - so u don't know him - bet u haven't even read about him - u just don't like that he supports the war in iraq i imagine - i could be wrong - just a hunch

to be continued

Obama does think we are a great nation.. but for McCain to say we are the greatest nation.. thats a big egotistic. Bravery..courage.. heroism... I can say the same or Obama... a black man being brave enough to be the first black president.. or multi-racial president. (I think you have an issue with his race) That also requires courage. To know the risk of being killed. In the long run do I have enough courage to be a gay candidate? hmmm.. He's a hero... and has alot of heroism.. to many minority groups and the people in Iraq by finally trying to let them be in peace. Eat That

To think we are the GREATEST nation? On what accounts? We are the land of the free and "I" can't get married or adopt children with my bf. Trust me every nation has its good and bad. But to say we are the greatest is ignorant and egotistic. I was born and raised here and have been to Mexico and let me tell you.. alot of families there are more together and supportive then alot of the families I see in America on tv AND real life. Kids in mexico have so little material items and they do what they can to help the family. There is alot of corrupt family values there just like here.. but they have alot more going for them in ethics. Kids here are so spoiled and don't know how good they have it.. me being one of them until I opened my eyes to put myself in other people's shoes

eat that? eat what? ;)

hehe

obama is brave because he is running for pres?

never heard that one

risk of being killed?

he's ahead in the polls - people seem to like him

u think i have an issue with his race? oooooooooooooh

good one

throw out the "ur a racist" thingy [-X

that's an obama supporter default

as for mexico and us - seems like a lotta peeps there wanna be here - not so much the other way around

i don't think ur posts make a whole lotta sense

technically anyone running for president and making alot of important decisions takes guts. And the fact that hes black and will make a new chapter in history books.. that IS courage. You ARE racist like many who say it isn't there when sub consciously IT IS and people admit it. Race does play an important roll. Sure alot of people like him... and alot don't. Gay people that support McCain many times can't say why they pick Mccain over Obama that is a gay supporting democrat.. They think up crappy reasons like hes brave.. he was in the war.. he went though that... poor him. Ok now as for this country.. what does he have planned that actually makes sense and how he views about civil rights for all minority groups so that everyone is placed on an equal level and so that we can all get on a fresh start?

As for other nations.. Mexico is just one. There are many great nations.. thats why people leave the US. I love the usa.. but im not an ignorant egotistic twerp who thinks I live in the greatest country and wish to live in the dark. There is another world outside the USA and many different values and cultures. People wish to live in the dark because they're arrogant and would never want to live a new experience. Some are so scared they stay right in their backyard shouting theres no better place like what they already and only know.

LOL...Why do you hate America?

..|

I trust that's some kind of a joke, right? I am a retired naval officer and Vietnam veteran. Among other commendations and awards, I hold two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. I love my country just as much as the next man...it's people like McCain that I can't stand.

I feel fighting for this nation is a wonderful thing.. but that doesnt make you more qualified to be a president or world leader

....conservatives like people - like to make friends - be amiable - have other interests - enjoy a good meal and conversations - like to talk to those who disagree with them - and look at the positives

More of the I like McCain/George W. because he's a straight shooting guy a guy can have a drink with. Give us a break. Not even you should be falling for that garbage again. LOL.

so I'm on the elliptical machine at a gym in Orleans, MA (CC) - and on CSPAN is David Brooks - from Tues - speaking at a young conservatives conference

Hmmm...I thought I was the only one who watches C-SPAN when I work out (I do that bike thing instead though).
;)

.... and to your list of GOP shortcomings, add 'humorless'. There are no absolutes of course but most people of the GOP persuasion seem to be the last ones to 'get' the absurdities of life. Humor kinda loses its edge when it needs to be sifted through a Biblical relevance filter. ;)

i would suggest that "self awareness" among liberals (not democrats ;)) is a quality most lacking
