Yeah, but all that has absolutely nothing to do with the claim of the headlines. Yes, their so-called faith is a sham, as has been the case with far too many public would-be religious "figures". But that's more about them than it is about him..... to a point. Often times, with such tightly held reigns in the family the kids are bound to rebel against the pressure in ways much similar to the actual claims. That is another reason I believe the whole "child molestation" bit is a sham. It is most probable that, as all kids were under the pressure of forced celibacy, all were at least somewhat intrigued by what was on the other side of that "do not cross" line. And all were culpable in crossing it willingly. It is probable that he was the initiator, but his sisters were likely right there with him, starting with first one, then another as she shared with her sisters the feelings that arose. They wanted to feel them too.
But yes, your point that public religious figures often fall from the pedestal they are placed on is valid. The thing to remember is that they are, after all, only human. A fact they themselves too easily forget as they fall victim to the hype that surrounds the public facade of their closer connection with God. They are packaged almost like demigods and often begin to see themselves as such, believing they are above petty human trials. They begin to see themselves above the rules as laid out by God for the masses as they are His Messengers, and therefore entitled to certain liberties. Then when something does come along thy realize it will ruin what they have so it has to be made to go away before it threatens their position (sounds like anyone in a position of power or authority) and they lose everything. It really has nothing to do with God (and his words) and everything to do with their perceived entitlement. As stated, they are only human after all.
But that still does not make josh duggar a child molester, just the idiot offspring of a would-be usurper of God's authority. The attempted cover-up is the responsibility of those in charge, the teen only went along with what he was told to do. After all, he tried to take responsibility for his actions and THEY chose to cover it up, quite the opposite of what is taught in the Bible.
