I think Joy Behar is a couple of bricks shy of a full load.

I wonder if she thinks being "in the red" is an insult to Native Americans?

Or if she thinks "White Christmas" is racist? Or the "White Sale" at JC Penny?

Does she wince when she hears people talking about blackouts, black dresses, black holes, black-balling, black shoes, black clouds, black moods, blackbirds, black coffee, blackboards, etc...etc...

Re: Joy Behar: "Isn't it a little racist to call it 'Black Friday' ?"

The fool.

The word 'black' in Black Friday means the introduction of profit.

Most retail businesses are in the red (negative) until they start to make a profit (black) during Black Friday.

Any term you want to choose is racist to anyone who has too much time on their hands and not enough other things to bitch about.

You know, the war in Afghanistan, AIDS in Africa, terrorists cutting off people's heads, just content to fill the CNN airwaves, right? But "Black Friday", oh my fucking God, where is Jesse Jackson??? (roll eyes)

Get the fuck over it.

There are also White Holes :)

though only theoretically...

I've also seen white boards in school, for markers.
Whiteouts are blizzards.

White out is also useful for correcting mistakes
created by black ink on white paper.

Wow. I thought Joy was a redhead, yet she acted so blonde. Really, I thought she was more informed than that.

Actually, Joy isn't much different than some of the members here who have turned the most innocent and unlikely ideas and comments into racist issues.

Wow, Whoopi is soo funny.I was expecting Joy to say 'Isn't it racist...' as a joke, but she seemed to be serious...Oh dear.

And she seemed even more serious and perplexed than embarrassed after Whoopi explained it to her.

Today everyone is looking for something to be offended about. That is their problem and their choose. I will say and do as I wish and if someone is offended I could care less. I refuse to be PC. (political cleansing?)

Joy is FAR from the only one who doesn't understand why it's called that.

Some people think that it's called that because it's such an awful day for retail... some think that it's called that because so many people die being trampled at Walmart.

Some think it's called that because poor black people do all their shopping that day.

I shake my head at the lack of education in this country.

Isn't it about breaking even?

As in, being in the Black and just breaking even, where as Green is you making money, and Red is you losing money?

No. 'Breaking even' is breaking even, neither losing money or earning a profit.

Ledgers 'in the red' (commonly written in red ink) mean the business is operating at a loss. Ledgers 'in the black' (commonly written in black ink) mean the business is operating at a profit.

Joy is a dirtbag and totally useless to the human race. Or you can ask me what I really think. LOL

Whiteouts are blizzards.

I wrote a story once where some people figured out how to make mini white holes, and used them for power sources. :D

Whiteouts are blizzards with an attitude, when optical conditions get to where you can't see anything but white. I was in one once where I couldn't even see my fingers out at arm's length.

Sometimes Joy seems to be in a sort of white hole of her own -- she just blurts out simple questions that make her look stupid.

I thought Joy was supposed to be the smart one.

I can't believe people are still confused by this term. It gets explained every year at this time. Pay attention. :slap:

So does explaining Boxing Day.

So does explaining that Canadian Thanksgiving occurs in October and not November.

It happens.

Oh, so she slipped up for a second and didn't know what it meant.

So what ? No big deal, who cares ? (paws at bra straps) GO home, have a glass of chardonnay, no big whoop, who cares ? ;)

Actually, I like Joy quite a bit. She's intelligent and cuts through the right-winged bullshit on almost a daily basis. Her talk show on HLN has a lot of interesting moments, I watch it a couple of times a week.

She could sort of be the female version of Bill Maher if she wanted to, and I mean that as an awesome compliment.

One could be excused for not knowing about holidays or events in other countries, but Black Friday happens here every year and the media goes over this every year. Where the hell has she been?

Wendy Williams didn't know about this either. They're supposed to be the informed ones, teaching us a thing or two , and they don't even know common knowledge such as this.

And, if you are ignorant on a subject don't jump to stupid conclusions, like assuming it's a racist term. Why in the hell would the news repeat a racist term?

Oh, so she slipped up for a second and didn't know what it meant.

I don't think she screwed up. From her expression afterward, she looked completely perplexed why Whoopi was making jest of it. No 'oopsie' or anything.
