What about the comment by Vivian Schiller of NPR - she said Juan Williams "should have kept his feelings about Muslims between himself and "his psychiatrist or his publicist."
Even though he was a contract laborer -- some really strong words.
It sounds like some at NPR are upset about what happened and how it happened.
Well of course it has!
Of course they're upset.
Look at the freak-hive that it's stirred up:
The termination of Williams' contract with NPR has been condemned by many from the conservative side of the political aisle, including Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee.
From your
source.
Williams didn't say anything racist.
No.
You're right.
Williams, as a journalist under contract with NPR, agreed with Bill O'Reilly's (On the Fox News Channel's O'Reilly Factor) regarding his highly generalized comments about Muslims in his book
Pinhead and Patriots.
Thus compromising, in the view of the Editorial Board of NPR, compromising his "journalistic integrity."
I don't understand why liberals are so quiet about this.
Because they're not conservative shills?
Jack Springer, I'll say it for you - Juan Williams - terminated from NPR --
Freedom of Association.
If you want to defend Fox News, and there's nothing, I'll repeat NOTHING
Fair and Balanced about that Network, for hiring any shill that wants to tow their propagandist agenda, and to be a mouthpiece for the current opposition party then you should also be defending NPR's right to decide which of their "contract"
journalists best represent their
editorial standards and practices.
Which brings me to your next point:
One thing that it has done is started the discussion about the Federal Government's financial support of NPR.
And don't forget '
Listeners like me.'
Who are now contributing more their 60% of their funding.
The Right Wingers, Conservatives, Neo-Cons, Tea Baggers, Specifically the
GOP, etc., have been after
NPR, the
NEA, along with the
DoE, the
EPA, ever since the elimination of the
Fairness Doctrine.
Why?
Why do you think that is?
Because they're the last bastions of a
Free Democracy.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." Samuel Adams, (1722-1803)
Now this entire debate has taken on a new specter.
"Liberals" trying to silence the opposition (
Fox News/Talk Radio/Conservative Ideology/Zealotry and Self-Righteousness*), when nothing further could be from the truth.
*All mouth pieces of an enemy which I consider for more insidious than any "Radical Muslim."
I wonder what happens to Mara Liasson now -- will she be forced to make a choice? Or will she have to watch what she says so she doesn't upset people like George Soros?
I call BULLSHIT.
In my personal opinion, the shills care not one iota.
Centex - I'll say it for you . . . FOX NEW -- Fair and Balanced.
Those little "catch phrases" and "sound bites" are fodder only for those Americans who are told what a "Real American" is while they follow those who are leading our Democracy into the path of destruction.
One really great piece of advice that I've taken from one of the opportunistic shills from the Right?
