Re: The JUB Awards 2007
I personally have a very flirtatious member. Do I win?
Then perhaps a rule ..... no nominating the same Jubber in more than one category?
Might broaden things out a bit.
Could be fun ..... and there's always the IGNORE function for those who don't like it.
That sounds like an excellent idea. If there are a lot of categories, especially, since that means more for the rest of the members.
As for the flamers... I don't care. In the real world, you have popular people and unpopular people. In the real world, I'm usually seen as 'filler', that only a few people really like, and that has no apparent personality. I just deal with it, and if I'm popular, at least I'm popular on the basis of my opinions and what I say, rather than my looks, because you can't effectively gauge someone's looks on the basis of a couple of photos.
Elvin isn't popular simply because he's hot. He's popular because he's an incredibly nice guy with time for everyone.
Rational Lunacy is popular because he's funny and sarcastic.
RRRalph isn't popular because he's hot either - hell, I've only ever seen his face. I think hotness involves body just as much as face. For all I know, if I met him, I wouldn't find him all that hot. I have no idea. The signs are good for him, but I don't know beyond that. I like what I've seen in his posts.
It's that simple.
Is popularity based on your post quality honestly such a bad thing? You're being judged on your personality. That's surely not bad, and if you don't win, then put more thought into a post before you make it.
Either way, categories.
Best threadsmith. I'll nominate Riverrick, for providing some of my favourite jub memories.
Turbo-poster. I'll nominate Piggyman. NEN.
I'd nominate Dreu for the flirting one.
Most sarcastic Jubber: I'd nominate RL.
Best debater. No idea who I'd nominate.
Etc.
Perhaps, if a Jubber is ideal for two categories, then you could ask the Jubber which category they want to participate in?
