JUB Awards 2007 - General Feedback Thread

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

Yes, ultimately it will mostly belong to the better known Jubbers. The ones who are the most visible and post the most.

To be honest, that's a good thing. That's who should be recognised on this forum. That's why I don't want a hottest member category. People here should be judged on the quality of their posts and how active they are.

If I was to enter myself into a category, I'd go for best signature, or Most Persistent Debater. After all, if there's a debate to be had, I just won't shut up.

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

UPDATE

I have decided to go ahead with the process *pauses to allow cheers (and some boos )*.

I'm currently awaiting a reply from a moderator on a few ways to promote this thread and until I have everything sorted out, I will not be starting the nomination process.

Now, just to clarify, THIS WILL NOT TURN INTO A POPULARITY CONTEST! This is a fun event that will involve fun, comedic categories such as 'Most Flirtatious' and 'Most Prone to Argue'. I will not be including categories that will alienate lesser known Jubbers. I have received many complaints and negative feedback on the basis of judging popularity. I assure you that that will not occur. I will post some rules shortly before I begin the process.

Another issue that is highly frowned upon is campaigning. By recommendation of the moderators, this will not be permitted as it will turn this fun event into a one that is heated and serious.

I will also be posting a list of the categories that are to be included. This will occur early next week. However once I have posted them this does not initiate nominations. I would like every bodies input on the categories - what I can improve, what I can add. I hope to begin nominations by 12th September.

I would like to thank everybody for their input so far and hope this process will be a huge success.

Here is the link to the poll again -

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

Personally, I enjoyed the last one......it was fun.......silly and fun.
I'm all for it.

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

Well now that you've decided to go through with it have moved to the Fun and Games forum.
I'm not saying this to be bitchy or some tired old queen. It really seems to be the best place for it to be.

QUITE possibly the only awards gayer than the Tony's? I think so. ;) It'll be fun!

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

From my time here at JUB, I've noticed something:

Regardless of whatever the TRUE answer is, the one who is better known is given the accolades.
I have to agree.
However...
So, while it's a nice idea...Its not entirely representative or accurate...
So in light of the nice idea/fun part I voted "yea."

I hope it turns out as well as you intend it to!

I voted yes in the poll, it is a good intentioned idea, but fraught with a lot of headaches for the proposer.

I'd like to decline graciously any subsequent award (not that I think I'd get any) as there are many more deserving JUBbers out there.

Maybe, instead of awards, you could make it into a kinda "yearbook" thing.

Here's mine:

Star-warrior: Most likely to fart in a crowded lift and blame someone else.

It sounds like a good idea starwarrior but I'm too far into the arrangements now. Thanks for the concern though. Maybe you could do this (but only after I'VE FINISHED THIS! ;) )

If it plays out like you planned,it could be fun actually. The worst part of other contests were the endless threads "pick me"

It looks as if you may have a nice contest going, and with the absence of self whoring,it may not become a "popularity contest"

Damn,I hope I win.(oops)

..| That's the spirit, I'm glad to see that you've came around to the idea! :D

This is another of those things that's divisive at JUB.

Awarding "most flirtatious" or "most intelligent" of a group, without being presented in any context, does not bring people together, it divides them. It's a popularity contest, which should be left in high school along with the rest of the juvenile crap that falsely bolsters the egos of some and unnecessarily hurts the feelings of others.

If you want to have an awards thing, do something like nominate posts, not people, such as Post A, Post B, Post C nominated for most flirtatious; Post A being a single post of, for example, Jacobim's, Post B being a post of Jory's, Post C being a post of Andreus'. Or whomever. That way we can all vote in the same context rather than the popularity contest thing.

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

Why isn't Elvin nominated?
And RRRalph?
And Rational Lunacy?

Do you just live in a perpetual state of jealousy 24/7? Can't you put aside your pettiness for just a minute, and give due to the people who actually make this board a warm and loving place? No, of course not - you've got your damned axes to grind.

I swear to God, I am THIS close to deleting my account.

...

...just warming up.

Lex

And the winner of the JUBBY Sarcasm Award goes to...! ;)

I agree with Nickcole, and I voted no. I also feel that nominating a post is just as likely to end up as yet another popularity contest.

Like one's penis, there is a time and place for stroking one's ego.

Otherwise, there is a chance that we'll look like monkeys at the zoo.

The next thing is that we'll also be flinging our poo at passersby.

*flings poo at rareboy*

I don't really "get" what these awards are about and can't be bothered finding out, good luck to all competitors though.

I hope the trophy has a vibrate function :p
