Taken from the ferry departure point on the Exchange Place waterfront in Jersey City, looking across the lower Manhattan skylineView attachment 990125
That's 77 Hudson, a 50 story development on Hudson Street... the one in the front with layered sections is the one your relatives were in winning the raffle. The back one is called 70 Greene Street.Great view of the Manhattan Skyline... love the various shades of glass used in the design from turquoise to darker blue to greenish hues. Probably the most beautiful of the residential developments that have been built here in recent years, I always love passing by and admiring it. The base is very so so but the tower is quite pretty, stylish even! Two of my extended relatives in Scotland won a charity raffle and went to Jersey City in April or May....
....their apartment view overlooked that very pier!
They were loaned the use of the raffle organiser's penthouse suite!
They were up on something like the 44th floor of a building on Hudson Street.
One of these two - couldn't tell you which.

Unfortunately it was a one-off and not open to extended relatives.
Otherwise my NY visit plans could theoretically have involved me living it up in a luxury penthouse suite.![]()

Affable yes... but chance, "sweet"? Them's fightin' words!I always wish I got to meet chance1. Despite his demur here, I found him affable and a sweet guy. Kind of jealous of palbert.
I meant FPNY, think it was his camera used for that picture. Sorry for the "Frank" confusion!Nope, re Brazil Grill - I don't have any pictures that the waitress took...

It is a big bite for a lot of people, but I do hope you do make it back this way sometime, Rick. That's the only real negative about the area, it's expensive as hell. So glad though that you did make the trip East, and it was a wonderful experience with all of you guys. The best alternative in finding a hotel stay one an afford is online hotel/vacation sites like Priceline and the one with the roaming gnome that's on the tip of my tongue! All these pictures and posts remind me again of the good time we had.
Just some facts. On my round trip I drove 915 miles and used $130.00 of gas and got about 24 miles per gallon and it took me about 9 1/2 hours each way including stops for food, gas, etc. 24 miles per gallon isn't good but it's acceptable. I did get sleepy on the way home and pulled into a rest area and slept for 15 minutes and woke refreshed. My hotel bill was almost twice what I would have liked to spend, but it was still cheaper than staying on Manhattan Island. I'm really glad I went and was impressed with everyone I met, but might be reluctant to spend that much money again.
