In the last month or so, our big white dog Maxy had lost a lot of weight and seemed a lot less active. Just took him to the vet today. He has bone cancer.

Here was him playing in the leaves looking for treats. This was only a month ago. Cancer hits you fast and hard apparently.

We just lost a cat just a couple weeks ago. Now we will lose our dog Maxy.
Boyfriend cried when vet gave us the news.
Those of you who don't know, I've started a million threads on this dog. Found him out in the middle of buttfuck no-where in Arkansas.
Maxy. He is very well behaved. Smartest dog I ever had. Too smart, actually. He has figured out how to open doors and gates. Loves people and other...
He's only 7. He's been a very good dog. I hope to one day see him again across the rainbow bridge.

My better half and I drove through the countryside last night. We found a stray puppy walking on the side of the road. We stopped and called him and he came over to us. No collar or anything on him.
We called the county and they sent an officer out. We thought he was sent out to take the dog to a shelter. When the officer got there, he told us they do not have a shelter and he recommended us to either let the dog loose or take him with us.
We have been thinking of getting another lab because ours is getting really old.
Should we just keep him or somehow try to find the owner? We are...

Today last year, I was hiking in the wilderness of NW Arkansas with my 2 beagles. Saw a dog about the size of one of my beagle walking by at a distance. Called out to him and he came running.
I brought him into the nearest vet (they ain't got no shelter around there) to scan for a chip since he did not have a collar. No chip. I posted his pictures on various websites for NW Arkansas with my number. Nothing. After several weeks with no call, we decided to keep him.
In the past year, he has grown a whopping 80-some pounds. He was about the size of one of my beagles when I found him...

I'm an atheist, by the way. Still, while enjoying my Saturday morning coffee, I can't help but think back to very specific life-changing events that seemed scripted.
My big white 120 lb teddy bear dog Maxy I found in literally the middle of no where in Arkansas. I was hiking with my 2 other dogs (now deceased from old age) and I saw a white creature from afar. Called out to him and he came. That hiking trail was about 2 hours car drive from where I was staying at in Arkansas, so that alone made for a coincidence. Or what if I had decided not to take that job in Arkansas in the first...

Back in mid to late 70s I had a dog that looks the same as yours. What's his name, BTW? My dog was Snow Dog - Snow for short.
Snow was white lab and shepherd mix. When he was washed clean you could just make out a shadow of his saddle back from the shepherd.
He was Huge! 100# plus and one of the smartest and most socialized dogs I have ever known. He loved camping with me and my friends.
What is your dog's personality? He is beautiful.
