In the last month or so, our big white dog Maxy had lost a lot of weight and seemed a lot less active. Just took him to the vet today. He has bone cancer.

Here was him playing in the leaves looking for treats. This was only a month ago. Cancer hits you fast and hard apparently.

We just lost a cat just a couple weeks ago. Now we will lose our dog Maxy.

Boyfriend cried when vet gave us the news.

Those of you who don't know, I've started a million threads on this dog. Found him out in the middle of buttfuck no-where in Arkansas.

He's only 7. He's been a very good dog. I hope to one day see him again across the rainbow bridge.

I lost my dog back to cancer back in February so I feel for you buddy. Mine was 10 and a half when she passed 7 seems unfair to me and I would have cried too.

We have had several animal companions die of cancer. Just manage their pain and when it seems they want to go, let them go.

Bummer. Hopefully Maxy is pain free. Give him lots of hugs!
The vet gave us pain meds. Will manage his pain for now. We have decided to make him comfortable and then when it gets worse we will take him in for you know what.

I'm so sorry to hear about your pet. Especially tough after the cat, too. It is just really sad to lose an animal you love. :therethere:

I am so sorry to hear about this. A neighbor lost her dog to cancer earlier this year.

I'm sorry to hear about your dog Maxy. May you be able to keep him comfortable in the days he has left. It's always hard to lose a beloved pet, and to see them suffer. :therethere:

I used to dogsit an old dog for friends
at the end of his life he was blind and could barely walk but had no pain and good appetite
they had him put to sleep when the cancer got worse

at the methuselah age of almost 20 years.
Needles to say they`re still grief just like Mr Bojangles...

So sad, the same thing happened to our Golden Retriever Nick, we had amwakel the night he went over the bridge. I also got another dog, Patch a month or so after Nick passed..He would have wanted us to adopt every dog after he was gone. I still cry when I think of him....like now. Give him plenty of hugs, kisses and anything else he wants.

A friend of mine who was religious used to say that one of god's biggest mistakes was that dogs do not live as long as humans.

Sorry to hear your news - it is never easy.

It's better the way it is.
Dogs and cats don't handle the death of their carers well, so better they die before we do, usually.

Sorry to hear your sad news. Losing a pet who's like a member of the family is devastating. Hold strong and enjoy your precious time together
