Just for fun post a non-porn pic.

I had to trim this pic of a hyacinth a bit and resize to be able to upload. I found this beauty in the former red light area here in Arnhem.

Thanks - it had rained/snowed but began to clear as we started our hike. I knew we were really lucky when the local trail guide who probably sees this every day starting snapping his own photos. Here's another. btw, this was in March 2005.

What an astonishing picture! ..| It's hard to believe it hasn't been photoshopped! I'm with buttons... I'd love to see more!

Bulgaria uses Cyrillic alphabet which was invented in Bulgaria in the mid 9-th century. This alphabet was later borrowed by other Slavic countries like Russia, Serbia etc. But nowadays of course, Roman is also used but not officially, just in some specific cases.

You can learn about Cyrillic alphabet here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyrillic

I'm just one of the ignorant slobs who assumed it was invented in Russia! Thanks for setting me [STRIKE]straight[/STRIKE] on the right path!

Buzzj's remark about the red light district and my own response to his pun actually made me wonder what the former red light district here in Arnhem looks like today since window prostitution has been prohibited for a little over a year. So I spent the afternoon in my old neighbourhood and took some pics of what it looks like in the bright light of (to)day.

The place looked very sad, derelict, forlorn, run down, neglected. I find myself wondering how much squalor those bright red lights actually hid.
At the moment a lot of buildings are rented cheaply to students, artists to prevent squatters and druggies moving in. In a few years time I imagine these four or five streets will undergo a face lift and be restored to their original glory or be torn down and replaced by some hideous so called "sympathetic and in keeping with the rest of the neighbourhood" new buildings.

Well. I took a lot of them. Here are two more of FitzRoy.

This is Perito Moreno Glacier farther south. Patagonia is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Bulgaria was a state long before Russia formed. Founded in 632, Bulgaria is the contemporary country in Europe with earliest internationally recognized independence (635 AD). Right about that time there was no "Germany" no "France", just Byzantium and Rome. And some tribes scattered all over Europe.

Russia was formed later on and it borrowed our alphabet and some of our language (although most Slavic languages are based on the "Common Slavonic"), a lot of the words in Russian come from Bulgarian. :D

Yeah, not many people know that because Russia is now so big that people think it has always been that way and that it has ancient history. Which is not quite so.

More great pics! Thanks!

I love to see pictures of places around the world.
Some unusual pictures from Sofia again:

The depth in this pic is great.

Do you know which part of София this is? Or the name of that major street?

This building is really cool! Do you know anything about it?

Jakey!!!

The first pic with the tram is the "Graf Ignatiev" street that people shortly call "The Graf". It's where the city center begins and it's near my uni. :D BTW, if u follow this street up, in half an hour it'll led u to my neighborhood...

The second pic, the "concrete jungle" it's a neighborhood called "The White Birches" and the street is "King Boris III" (the last Bulgarian king, poisoned by Hitler)

The glass building, I don't know much about it, I only know it's an office building and that it's exterior walls are suspended on the structure and not really part of it.
