Just How Seriously Do You Take JUB?

Well, as it is after all at heart a porn site, I'm finding that some posters seem to take it a wee bit seriously. Surely to think that great political and philosophical questions are going to be discussed here with complete seriousness is just a bit, well, ridiculous?

I'm 50 / 50 on it, some of the things I take serious are the people coming here looking for advice, that needs to be taken seriously because sometimes people ask very important questions that should be answered in a serious manner. Then there are some parts of JUB that are just usually made for humor or entertainment.

I take JUB very seriously. We are all human beings who laugh, eat, love, flinch, travel, have hobbies, etc. - and issues affect us just as much as issues affect anybody else we have ever known or been related to. JUB has made me think, it's made me laugh, it's made me cry, it's made me pray, it's even occasionally scared me. I enjoy the sense of community here, and I am deeply saddened when any of us are treated unfairly - which is indeed happening with somebody right now, whose posts I have always enjoyed. I won't elaborate, but if he leaves because of the form of harassment he's receiving, I'm out of here myself. Now, that IS taking JUB seriously...

It depends on who I'm reading or responding to. I love that I can find both frivolous nonsense and thought-provoking issues here, and I try to respond in kind. This is my only "gay community" contact, so I'm really glad I can find so much different stuff. Sure, porn is fun, but the personalities are why I come back everyday.

There is this fascinating dichotomy of a quality porn site with this calibre of discussion....rather like finding a platonic symposium going on when you are buying meat at the market.

I love the community aspect of the forums. As for the porn, I don't look at them that often spending 80% of my JUB time on the forums.

Some folks make you think, some make you think and laugh, some make you just wanna cry with laughter. How serious do think I take JUB? Its part of me now, so, fairly, I'd say.

Yes, of course JUB is a gay porn site. The 'investors' are not here for their health, they are here to make a profit. No kidding.

But, that fact does not negate the importance of this site to a lot of people.
Whether you're here and just 'coming out', or here just to 'hob nob' with other people of your persuasion, JUB can provide comfort, camaraderie, and a whole host of other things.

Strength in numbers, and all of that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a healthy dose of cynical realism, but don't let the attitude cloud your judgement of what is really going on here...

And considering some of the posts above, you should stick to the porn side; dropping in to insult others is nekulturny and childish.
