^It's a victim of its time. I was just pontificating about the wondrous decade that was 90s music [in the CE&P music thread. Yes, such a thing does exist!] I don't even say that with a strong bias as a 90s child. Thank god dubstep is on the downswing already. At least maybe, breakbeats will become popular like it was back in 2003.

It does definitely seem like a lot more groups that got their starts in coffeehouses or small gigs got record deals back in the 90s, whereas today watching Real Housewives produce their own recording session or album and putting it on itunes and youtube feels like it's a lot closer to how a lot of mainstream artists get their deals today.

Depends where you live. And if one were to look at the actual job situation, it's a totally different picture. Here in California we've had many high paying jobs created in the last few years. Sounds like a whole lot of sour grapes to me. Move to a different part of the country... Russia? Absolutely not.

I grew up in SoCal, born and raised. About 7-8 years ago the big company I worked for moved to Nebraska (and me along with it). They wanted to save money on taxes and had enough insight to realize Cali's economy was headed for the shitter...low and behold. Financially California is a huge mess, high corporate tax rate, the highest gas tax in the country, many cities have claimed bankruptcy and every other tax there just seems to be going up. Not even going to get started on property values and the cost of living... nice place to live if you're rich or if you enjoy living in poverty, nice place to visit. But if you actually want a house and a comfortable life with a sensible cost of living, Cali is not the place.

your state is tied with nevada for having the second highest unemployment rate in the country with 9.8 percent. last i heard, your state was going broke and everybody was moving out. there's actually many people that moved from your state and nevada to new jersey because they heard that there were jobs over here. what's going on now? there's a lot of people moving out of our state to nearby pennsylvania because everything's cheaper over there and supposedly, there's jobs. with that said, unless you have a job, plan on settling down out here, or raising a family, jersey is the last place you want to move to. there's NOTHING over here. whenever i get some money, i'm out of this state because this place sucks. the only things that would make me stay is if i go to law school here, find a boyfriend and start a serious relationship or get a really nice job. otherwise, i'm out. been wanting to move out of here since high school.

i don't even watch any of those shows so you don't have to worry about that. there's really no good shows on local tv anymore anyway. in fact, the tv stays off most of the time.

I always tell people to work in the Northeast for 5+ years and get that high salary and then move to another part of the country where it's cheap and you can live like a king/queen.

that's the biggest reason I wish I could telecommute.

I feel like I'm just barely scraping by on my salary (I mean, not exactly living paycheck to paycheck, but I don't see how I'll ever afford a house or even a condo unless I get an unexpected influx of money from somewhere or get married)... but if I had this same salary living out in PA even, I could buy a 4-bedroom house with a mortgage that would equal what I pay for rent outside of NYC.

My parents and me negotiated that when they move down to Florida in the next two years, I will move back home and basically be a live-in as they don't want to sell it. Course I am responsible for all the bills including the taxes. The home was recently appraised at $780k but since there is no mortgage, it may be cheaper to live at home than pay rent in Boston.

you know, this is something about another forum which has a lot of lames on it btw which is making me laugh right now. it annoys me how when some folks whenever they want to take shots, they have to throw the same insults or whatever that i've heard over and over again. whenever i responded back to their dumbasses, they kept saying "you're mad. you're upset. you know my words hurt you." it's as if they're trying hard to convince themselves that they're actually hurting my feelings when i really could give a fuck less. in fact, they're actually showing me a lot of love by paying attention to me, talking about how ugly i look, how my glasses are awkward, talking about me being gay and etc. they seem to give a fuck more about me than i do about them. i don't really know shit about them but yet they know a whole lot about me.

i mean damn, is it really that serious where i'm making that much of an impact where folks are trying to study me and know so much about me that they think that they're hurting my feelings by literally acknowledging me like that. i can't even say that they're hating on me because by being all on my case like that, they're actually showing me love.

Egh same. Last year I had a weekly car break down for 2 months They couldn't really completely fix the problem and I ended up spending quite a lot of money on the car
