I guess I just don't understand why. The whole point of tutoring is to provide assistance to somebody so they can complete what you might call an "official" course of study. I could get a tutor to help me get my GED, for instance, or to help me pass my algebra class. In a sense, it's calling somebody who is "outside the official system" to help them pass the official test. By making all GED tutors "certified", you're technically pulling them all into the system. And how do you verify that sort of thing? If I ask for help with my fractions, are people required to say "Sorry - I'm not certified"?

If I need help getting my certification for GED tutoring, can I call in a tutor? And does THAT tutor need to be certified? :)

Lex

That sort of summarizes my reaction.

Why is it so hard to find a cheap plastic $1 drink pitcher?!?!?!?! :grrr: :soapbox:

I just need some, so that I can make my sweet tea and fruit smoothies in large batches, and store them in my fridge, so I'm not having to constantly spend time making drinks almost daily.

I'm going to try the Dollar General the next traffic light over from me, within walking distance. Dollar Tree has what I want, but only online - in the stores, they have the gallon canisters that are *like a pitcher*. Not good enough for what I'm needing and what I'm wanting to accomplish. You can buy them online, but at Dollar Tree, they only sell online by the case - always have. I don't need a case of two dozen pitchers, only about 3 or 4, maybe 5 total.

The Rubbermaid and Sterilite ones are highway-robbery priced - most retailers want $6 or $7 bucks or more for just one!

I have bronchitis....it sucks...and I waited all this time (3 weeks) to figure out what was wrong. I feel like they is an non-medicated bi-polar kick-boxer living in my chest and in my throat. I wish this would go away (#endvent)

Ugh. I have chronic viral bronchitis; I have to be careful every year at this time, lest it recur. I can really relate to your description of it -- all too on target. I'll just add that my lungs get to where they feel like there's a clogged conveyor belt chugging and just causing pressure, spilling crud off the sides to clog more passages.

My gripe -- bloody testosterone-charged young bucks out in the woods are mangling a bunch of my newly planted trees meant to increase the biodiversity in the dune ecology!

I need a hunting license.....

Yesterday...black out for a day (sigh)

warming my dinner on top of candle :(

Agh! I feel so bad for you. The thought of COPD/Chronic Bronchitis scares the hell out of me. Mine is only acute and caused by the cold I had. I am so sorry that you have to live with it on a more regular basis....I couldn't imagine having this flare up at any given moment. I'm afraid to laugh or talk for too long because I'll start coughing up a storm.

Virtual hug (*8*) to you.

I've actually been dealing with a cold all weekend that I think I caught from my boss Friday night, when we went on our monthly trip to deliver groceries to a friend of his (thanks, Andrew! :grrr:) At least I know the flu shot I got from work seriously actually did help - although I do feel bad, I don't feel nearly as bad as last year's Black Friday flu that hit me like a ton of bricks. At least with this round, I'm able to get out of bed and move around.

The headache, the stuffy head, and runny nose are getting on my last damn nerves.

I think I'm gonna watch Magic Mike over a bowl of chicken soup. And @yeahright1991 - I wouldn't mine some company... (*8*) ..|

Hope you get to feeling better.

Not so happy. My main desktop computer is down. I am not sure if it is the hard disk drive that is dead, or the motherboard.

Thank goodness I have a backup.

Just back from the bathroom after looking in the mirror and thought: "yeah, I'd do me". I love when my self-esteem is that high.

Used ones at Goodwill and the like?

Just beware, don't check out any other mirror/window cause you'll be in for a shock...

Nope, I've checked. An out-of-season item usually relegated to late spring early summer - party and outdoors season.

I did find them in the kitchen goods section at Dollar General - Sterilite ones, a little cheaper than 2 for $6, so I got 2. I figure that right now, this is as cheap as I'm going to get out.

That feeling when you're dating a guy and have a bad date. I try not to let it get to me but it makes me want to breakup for no real reason. Weekday dates tend not to go well for me anyway; especially when my bad work day spills over into it. Bad dates are bound to happen in a relationship and it's weathering that date that makes it stronger.

Got to play sanctimonious bitch this evening. After putting together another complex event featuring twelve other people, I got a message from the venue owner. "Sorry - I double-booked. Can I move you to next week?" I texted back "No. Fuck that. You've already pulled this on me once. Move the other event, or I move to another venue." He caved and said he would move the other event.

I am so sorry you are under the weather...I would be more than happy to provide company lol. I actually was just talking with a friend about visiting Texas. San Antonio happens to be one of my favorite places in not just the country but the world.

I hope you get to feeling better as soon as possible :)

It's one of those nights when "FML" seems apropos. Lab papers are the bane of my existence.

I had the head of HR send out an email regarding Thanksgiving work and not surprisingly, a lot of pissed off people.

They can take one day off [Wed or Fri] as a personal day. If they want both off, they have to take vacation time. However, if they work both Wed and Fri, they get a $100 bonus as an Amex gift card.

Colleges are apparently just organizations you pay a shitload of money to until you're smart enough to realize you don't need them...and actually never did.
