I did find myself thinking about that quite a few times!
and more than that, most of the times i wished i was the one doing the holding!
Hope my new furry man will hold me and let me hold him for a long time!
But as that is not a known fact ... and as many of us don't have someone to do that with, a really good 'substitute' (It worked for me 90% of the times! ) are Dogs! Big Dogs! (not to discriminate, but really, have you tried hugging a 2kilo Yorkie? or a 0.5kilo Chihuahua? They will probably squeak, bark and bite you so fast... you won't know what happened! Its simple! It just hurts them! Imagine being hugged by a freaking giant!)
My two Boxers have been there for me in better and worse!
And in those cold nights in winter when you really need a HUG, they are always willing to lay one in front, and one just behind me, so as to squeeze me between them!
If you are allergic to dogs, well, there is one more thing you can do (which is just plainly and simply NICE!).... but not sure how it would work out for those cold lonely nights! You might get so much more than a hug! Like a couple of slaps... (if you're lucky!)

P.S.
Remember:
1. Dogs need Hugz Too! They Give Them Away Freely, BUT THEY DO EXPECT THEM IN RETURN!
2. Dogs ARE NOT TOYS! You get a Dog? You raise and STICK WITH IT till death do you's part!
