On-Topic Kenosha Shooter – Kyle Rittenhouse Trial and Verdict

Re: Kyle Rittenhouse is not going to be convicted

I'm not finding much about him getting any training, just a couple of references that he was training to be a police officer and one that he went to a "militia school".

His discipline was pretty impressive, though, regardless of where he got it: he kept his finger off the trigger until time to move it there, he tried to move away from confrontation, and he only fired enough shots to remove the threats to his life.

So he was so disciplined he was fleeing a guy with a skateboard terrified for his life and HAD to shoot some guy in the back?

Admit it, you're just bullshiting us at this point.

When the guy with the skateboard attacked him as far as I am concerned he forfeited his life.

I just heard a talking head insist that there is evidence that the police deliberately pushed the protestors towards the ad-hoc 'militia'. If that's true, the families of the two whom Rittenhouse killed should be suing those officers!

Lots of people think that when you put on a dress, you forfeited your life.

So what?

Where.

The difference is me wearing a dress hurts no one. If I smash you in the head with a skateboard I could potentially kill you.

Of course if I have a gun then I can kill all of the people who think that by wearing a dress I forfeit my life.

I mean you aren't a Doctor I am sure but you know blunt force trauma to the head is an excellent way to kill someone or even just permanently brain damage them if they survive.

Exactly. From David French in The Atlantic:

Kyle Rittenhouse’s Acquittal Does Not Make Him a Hero (The Atlantic; November 16, 2021)

Nice summary.

It's too bad that Wisconsin lacks laws governing the discipline of militia; with some, Rittenhouse could have been charged with irresponsible action for going off alone: a rational militia member would understand that you don't operate solo, you partner up and stay that way.

Rittenhouse defended himself against violent attackers. The only thing he is to blame for is poor militia discipline by going off alone.

You just were admiring his discipline, get your story straight.

Now WHO was telling you the police were fomenting a conflict and Kyle should sue WHERE did you get that?

Not according to the people who'd like to see you dead. They think your person is way more harmful than any guy with a skateboard, so if people get to kill on the basis of feelings.. it's legal to kill anyone.

No people get to kill you if you assault and try to kill them. Not of you wear a dress. Plus if I have a gun what makes you think I can't shoot them and kill them before they kill me.

Someone attacking another person with violent intent to do harm is not a victim if he gets shot for it, he's just getting the justice he asked for.

The only victim among the four people that night was Kyle Rittenhouse -- though he sort of brought it on himself by wandering off on his own away from the ah-hoc 'militia' he was supposedly a part of.

Not an illegal firearm? So is that the precedent, 17 year olds who arent legally allowed to carry are legally allowed to carry?

Kyle violently attacked three people with the intent to do harm.

Re: Kyle Rittenhouse is not going to be convicted

First, I don't believe you, second, people who kill over feelings are not going to give you the opportunity to shoot them, and thirdly, the point is they find your existence a violent attack, shall they also be excused?

No but if they shoot and miss or come at me with a gun I can pull out my own gun too right?

And what is there not to believe nothing I have said is out of the real of possibility and beyond that no feelings aren't a reason to kill. Trying to kill you along with burning, rioting and looting is.

No no, they find you offensive, they feel you threaten their very lives, they think you are a criminal and a pervert, you don't get a say, you don't get to make explanations, are they justified in killing you?

This is your own argument, I have no idea why you're having so much trouble with it.

Re: Kyle Rittenhouse is not going to be convicted

Words from the people who had no one speaking for them during the trial:

Statement of Karen Bloom & John Huber in Response to the Rittenhouse Verdict
November 19, 2021

Kenosha, Wisconsin – We are heartbroken and angry that Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted in his criminal trial for the murder of our son Anthony Huber. There was no justice today for Anthony, or for Mr. Rittenhouse’s other victims, Joseph Rosenbaum and Gaige Grosskreutz.

We did not attend the trial because we could not bear to sit in a courtroom and repeatedly watch videos of our son’s murder, and because we have been subjected to many hurtful and nasty comments in the past year. But we watched the trial closely, hoping it would bring us closure.

That did not happen. Today’s verdict means there is no accountability for the person who murdered our son. It sends the unacceptable message that armed civilians can show up in any town, incite violence, and then use the danger they have created to justify shooting people in the street. We hope that decent people will join us in forcefully rejecting that message and demanding more of our laws, our officials, and our justice system.

Make no mistake: our fight to hold those responsible for Anthony’s death accountable continues in full force. Neither Mr. Rittenhouse nor the Kenosha police who authorized his bloody rampage will escape justice. Anthony will have his day in court.

No reasonable person viewing all of the evidence could conclude that Mr. Rittenhouse acted in self-defense. In response to racist and violent calls to action from militia members, Mr. Rittenhouse travelled to Kenosha illegally armed with an assault rifle. He menaced fellow citizens in the street. Though he was in open violation of a curfew order, Kenosha police encouraged him to act violently. Kenosha police told militia members that they would push peaceful protestors toward the militia so that the militia could “deal with them.” Soon after, Mr. Rittenhouse killed Joseph Rosenbaum. The police did nothing. Concerned citizens, confronted with a person shooting indiscriminately on the street, stepped in to stop the violence. Anthony was shot in the chest trying to disarm Mr. Rittenhouse and stop his shooting spree. Still, the police did nothing. Mr. Rittenhouse continued to shoot, maiming Gaige Grosskreutz. The police let Mr. Rittenhouse leave the scene freely. Mr. Rittenhouse came to Kenosha armed to kill. Kenosha police encouraged him to act violently, and our son is dead as a result.

We are so proud of Anthony, and we love him so much. He is a hero who sacrificed his own life to protect other innocent civilians. We ask that you remember Anthony and keep him in your prayers.

That is not my argument. My argument is as the law states if someone assaults another they have a right to defend themselves.

A person being offended is not the same as a person being physically assaulted.

Unless of course you are a leftist who thinks hate speech is violence or a religious rightist who thinks that blasphemy is violence but then again that is the new speak of authoritarians.

Yeah Gaige and the other admitted they attacked Kyle and were of course out burning, looting and murdering. Hell Gaige's comment that he attacked Kyle first caused his own lawyer to face palm.

And these people think you are assaulting them and therefore are justified in defending themselves. You don't get to define terms because according to YOUR argument all that matters is what the assaulted THINKS. [Text: Removed]

Yup that's exactly your argument, and the problem with it.
