He was in possession of controlled substances and a gun at the same time -- that's a felony. And the NRA doesn't stand up for felons.
The cops didn't know he had drugs (if he did) before they killed him. Also the NRA stands up for felons all the time. They show support for police all the time and a small percent of the time the cop gets charged. They also have shown support for random others such as George Zimmerman even before his trial.
It is not about being a felon. It is about the shooters and victims involved. Remember George Zimmerman was hailed as "George Zimmerman is the NRA" before and after his trial.
