It depends, i've never seen Magic Mike but i guess you see everything bar the dicks, it'd be pretty weird and a tad desperate if people went to see certain films for the two second flash of cock on offer.

I thought the brief nude of Bart Simpson in the skateboard scene in The Simpsons Movie was long time coming.

That said, I don't need to see it again.

Yeah, it's sad to think that anyone could possibly throw money away to see an ass or a cock scene.

Kevin Bacon makes perfect sense in what he says. And I'm saying since the mid-2000s male nudity on movies has been more censored than ever. I'm not saying nudity is the main reason to go see a movie. I think everyone including Bacon is saying let there be equal amounts of nudity from men and women. In Piranha 3-D (2010) it's like a combination of sci-fi/thriller/horror/comedy and Girls Gone Wild (tons of female nudity and only one quick male mooning scene. The nudity of women vs. men is VERY unequal and I think it is partly due to a new form of homophobia (backlash) spawned from gay rights progressing so fast in this century. You think straight guys don't go to see certain movies like Piranha 3-D because of all the hot naked chicks? Think again! There should be stuff out there for gays and gals to see too. We get tired of seeing ONLY tits, fussy crotches, and lady asses.

That's just a cartoon though. I'm sure most gay men and straight women would love to see at least an equal amount of male nudity in comparison with female nudity.

It's not really that expensive to go to see things on Netflix, Redbox, cable TV, and discounted DVDs/Blu-rays if you don't want to pay to see it at the movies. I didn't go see Magic Mike XXL. I'm waiting until it comes out on DVD.

Comic remarks aside, the male nude is just as valid as the female, and Mr. Bacon is courageous to say so.

That said, I've never enjoyed the heavy injection of nude scenes into otherwise good movies. Very rarely is eroticism the driving force of the drama, and when it is, more left to the imagination is better in my view.

Porn has its place. Good drama doesn't need the nudity. A good script and good acting don't need T&A to carry the precious minutes that the screenplay has to tell its tale.

Most movies are made with young males in mind, 15-24 so throwing a bit of tit in is pretty much expected, females seem to go for nonsense like the New Moon vampire tosh, they get a bit of torso but the dull romance angle is to the fore.

If you notice that since the late 2000s many scenes that show a male butt are blurred, darkened, cropped, only show the top half or side of buttocks, or are shown so quickly you can barely hit the pause button to catch it while female nudity of buttocks and boobs are shown liberally, graphically, close, explicitly, and for extended periods of time. Scenes of male nudity have been cropped, altered, shortened, or entirely deleted from some DVD releases of certain movies from the VHS era. Since the late 2000s male nudity in mainstream movies is scarce.

Well Kevin Bacon calls out inequality where it is. Gays and straight women deal with seeing boobs all the time so little straight boys can just grow up and deal with a little more equality when it come to male AND female in movies. I applaud what Kevin is saying and doing. It people just accept things are the way things are and never speak out then we'd never have marriage equality for gays and interracial couples or all the other civil rights in the United States we all take for granted. In this country equality should be everywhere and for everyone in every aspect of life, even entertainment.

The simple fact is that a lot more people want to see naked women (and will pay to be able to do so) than those who want to see naked men.

It's not homophobia. It's a simple fact, and it's been a fact since silent movies ruled the Earth.

I agree that nudity doesn't need to be there just to be there but see nothing wrong with a scene of someone talking in the locker room and a few naked dudes changing, showering, wearing jockstraps in the background. A good example of something like this is the late 90s movie The Rage: Carrie 2. Footloose has appropriate male nudity in the locker room scene. Unfortunately male nudity of that sort is not that common anymore but there are tons of UNNECCESSARY female nudity still in many movies today.

I think woman and gay men want to see realistic scenes with ass and dick in it as much as str guys want to see tits and vag in movies.
I mean there are whole websites devoted to vag and tits in legit film and same for any male actor that is brave enough to let it all hang out.

Then show the same amount of naked women but I seriously doubt they'll lose that many viewers if they have more male nudity than what they have currently which is hardly any if any at all. Straight men back in the 80s saw nude scenes of guys and didn't freak out so if the new generations do then there is something seriously wrong with them psychologically. The opposite of attraction is not repulsion, but indifference. True straight men aren't going to be bothered by male nudity or repulsed by it, it just won't do anything sexually for them. But if seems like guys in their 20s now FEAR it and there is something seriously odd about that. Being gay, I don't fear female nudity nor am I repulsed by it, I'm just indifferent to it. I don't have to be repulsed by females to prove I'm gay so I don't know why so many young straight guys feel they have to prove their masculinity and heterosexuality by being "repulsed" by a male butt every once in a while on a movie.

Just because things were always a certain way doesn't mean they don't or won't change or that it shouldn't be called out and discussed. People in the 20th century thought gays would never be able to get married, now it's legal in over 20 nations.

It has been called out and discussed here time and time and time again. Attitudes change, and some day they may change in favour of male nudity in film, but, for the past century, it has not been readily accepted. Naked or scantily-clad women sell tickets. Naked men don't.

But isn't males fearing or being repulsed by the male nude homophobia on some level? I don't see how it can't be. It is at least the fear of nudity itself. I'm not saying I completely disagree with you on the selling of tickets point.

I remain optimistic that attitudes will change as far as male nudity is concerned, especially in this age of equality and political correctness. In most countries gays didn't get to marry until the 21st century while straights could marry from the beginning of time and the beginning of the U.S. and other nations. I think the time has come where a lot of changes will take place. Gay rights have progressed in so many areas in this decade in the United States.

I've called the lack of male nudity homophobia and now Kevin Bacon is stating it is gender inequality and I agree with him. When it comes to gay rights and fighting homophobia the magic words of GENDER and SEX have gotten us long ways and achieved us civil rights and equality. The already protected categories of gender/sex in the U.S. will help progress rights where sexual orientation and gender identity/expression are concerned.

LGBT has achieved equality on many levels in the U.S. but still have far ways to go on many things but music, TV, movies, books, entertainment, etc. we still have some work to do as far as achieving full equality and recognition. I believe gay male love will make it to Top 40/pop music stations before Country Music stations but one day equality will be everywhere.

Straight women and gay men just need to stick together on a lot of things and DEMAND they be catered to in society the same way as straight men.

I can't think of any situation where I can't shamelessly plug Rush into. That's why I love them. Their songs are so relatable.

Hell the lyrics above basically outline every human conflict.

OMG! How dare you ask the poor little straight boys to give an inch for equality! Clearly, you are a militant homosexual, and will next be storming churches demanding to be accepted!
