They are very similar and I think it's good that she discourages some stupid feud or comparison/backlash from the media.

I'm not the biggest fan of Lady GaGa but I can see why people are drawn to her. She is annoying but what's much more annoying is the gay males on this board or in general who act like she's completely horrible and the worst thing ever.

It seems like they only act this way is to counteract the stereotype that because someone is gay doesn't mean they are going to be a fan of a gay icon. In fact they will try to be the opposite just to garner attention or a a reaction.
 
To participate is to offer an opinion. And in this, a natural reaction to something that is being foisted upon you?

I know it's probably too soon to compare Gaga to Madonna and before Gaga came along probably not a single soul on this planet had thought there would ever be another Madonna-caliber gay icon. What do you guys think? Is lady Gaga as big of a gay icon as Madonna already is or will she be an even bigger one as her career progresses?

Everything she is doing Madonna has already done. She is talented but not original. She sounds too much like Madonna.

Agreed totally. I'm a pretty huge fan of Gaga and I've honestly never been a fan of Madonna, but for me to argue that Gaga's status has even begun to approach Madonna's would be absurd. The chick's been HUGE for longer than Gaga's even been alive. What the hell is the point of even trying to compare. Leave it alone already.

In 1979, Donna Summer seemed to be un unbeatable gay icon.

Madonna, being huge as an artist -gay icon or not- is 54 years old. Everybody respects her, but sooner or later she'll have to resign, and somebody new will take her place. No big deal. Truth is that we still don't know if Lady Gaga is the new Diva or one day miracle more. She'll have to work A LOT to be the half of Madonna. But still both are sensational imo.
