The Lady Is A Tramp snippet in Amazon.

It suits her perfectly, can't wait to hear the whole thing... And I'm still waiting for that Jazz album.

Re: The Official LADY GAGA Mega-thread

LOL she did not steal the show. No matter how hard she tried she was upstaged by Adele, Beyonce and Britney...

Oh please! Brit was not upstaging Gaga while on stage together. All eyes were on Jo.

Re: The Official LADY GAGA Mega-thread

^Neither Britney or Gaga were THAT amazing. Britney's tribute was overhyped when in reality it lasted like 2 mins and her speech was an introduction to Beyonce (wtf!).

Gaga on the other hand was amusing at first and I liked her performance of You And I, but by the end of the show I was annoyed by her Jo character, it was too over the top...I just wanted to see her be her.

Re: The Official LADY GAGA Mega-thread

regarding Gaga at the VMA's....Annie Lennox called from 1985, she wants her look back.....why does everyone claims Gaga's so original, apart from the meat dress- everything she's done has been done.

Who here talks of originality? We all know gaga isn't a reflection of pop history, she is a refraction.

Yeah I think by the end we were all like where the fuck is Gaga and her meat dress. But at the same time it was her, staying on character the whole night, that made it special. I just hope she'll put Jo to rest for a while.

And still she managed do it better. It's not only me who thinks that way:

"We had talked to her about the creative [for the performance] a few weeks before the show. We had a call with her, and it became clear that she's going to be Jo," VMA Executive Producer Dave Sirulnick explained.

"She showed up as Jo, rehearsed as Jo ... if you said 'Gaga,' she wouldn't respond. After rehearsals, she comes over, she says to me, 'It's nice to meet you,' and I say to her, 'I know your friend Gaga,' and she says, 'That Gaga, what a bitch!' " Sirulnick recalled. "She did not break character once. She walks in backstage and, in front of a whole bunch of people, went into the men's room. Later, we had all the Young the Giant fans lined up waiting for the band to rehearse their performance, and Jo was walking out of the building to her dressing room and someone yelled 'It's Gaga!' But she didn't respond, just kept on walking, until finally someone yelled, 'Hey, Jo!' and then she turned and waved..."

"...Over the years, lots of people have done lots of things, lots of people have worn lots of things, but no one has been that committed, that in character," Sirulnick laughed. "She's smoking in the building, she was holding court in the crowd, you know, Kanye, Katy, Adele, Tony Bennett, they loved it. They respected her commitment and her level of artistry."

And, of course, they couldn't help but be inspired by it too. Because by never wavering, by putting it all out there as Jo Calderone, Gaga raised the bar for her fellow VMA performers, too, and it was up to them to match the heights she achieved.

Yeah, meat dress, but let's not forget about: the egg (vessel) at the Grammys, bubble dress and piano, "hairbow", "discostick", video-glasses, all the "orbits". Those are just some I can think off the top of my head, I could keep going all day long with some Googling...

But the worst part of even having this conversation is that Gaga has never claimed to be 100% original. She has always given credit where it's due, and still does. Always, since the beginning of her career, she's restlessly been saying who she has been inspired by. This whole coming at Gaga for borrowing from the past has gotten so tired, most of us have moved on, when will you?

The only thing she's claimed, is that she's pushing boundaries. I'd like you to prove her wrong.

Re: The Official LADY GAGA Mega-thread

all the media people and music people are always calling her original- and many, many fans- I was talking about them using the term- not her....as for boundaries- she's been very helpful with gay rights...but again- Cher, Annie Lennox, Madonna and Grace Jones, etc all pushed those boundaries beofre...i.e. the walls were considerably loosened when she arrived

No. I'm pretty sure you misunderstood people calling her a breath of fresh air in pop, which doesn't necessarily mean that all she's done is original, just that it isn't what is out there at a certain moment. And I see no lie with people calling her innovative, cause there's plenty of new and original things that she's brought to pop culture.

What you just don't get is that because someone's done something before, or walls have been loosened, doesn't make other people's work worth nothing; and I wasn't talking about gay rights, or yes, but not only. Do you think Madonna would be anywhere she is now if she hadn't push what Marilin Monroe, for example, had done before? Doesn't mean she's a copy of her, just that she was smart enough to use what had worked before, and make it her own; just like Gaga does. People wouldn't have bought Madonna if she had only been an exact copy of Marilin. Success speaks for itself when it comes to Madonna, and so it does with Gaga. Gaga has brought up stuff that had been pretty much forgotten and made it relevant in her way, that's one of the reasons people find her interesting, just like they did with Madonna.

That something is revolutionary or innovative doesn't mean it can't be further pushed or be changed to better. If artists weren't allowed to borrow from the past there would be no art.

‘Yoü And I’ Becomes Lady Gaga’s 11th Consecutive Top Ten Hit

Just weeks after Gaga’s smash hit single “The Edge of Glory” ended its 3-month run in the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100, the singer is back in the top tier as her latest release “Yoü And I” jumps 16-6 on this week’s chart. Thanks to Gaga’s show-stopping performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, the track is one of the top gainers with a 61% increase in sales (175,000 copies) and 32% in airplay.

The Mutt Lange-produced “Yoü And I” becomes Lady Gaga’s eleventh consecutive top ten hit in the United States, putting her in fourth place among solo artists with the most top top tens in a row, only behind Janet Jackson, Madonna and Whitney Houston.

Since the release of “Just Dance” back in 2008, Gaga sold more than 35 million digital tracks in the U.S. alone, among which are “Poker Face,” the most downloaded song by a female artist of all time, and “Paparazzi,” which was the singer’s only number one on Billboard’s Radio Songs until “Born This Way” stormed the chart earlier this year.

Worldwide, her international hits such as “Bad Romance,” “Alejandro” and “Judas” as well as albums, including the hot-selling Born This Way, have moved an impressive 90 million copies, which already makes Gaga one of the best-selling musicians of all time.

Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball HBO Special Wins Emmy

monster-ball-gaga-tour.jpg

Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball show in New York’s Madison Square Garden has won a Primetime Emmy Award. The concert special, which aired on HBO earlier this year, took home the Emmy for Outstanding Picture Editing for a Special (editors: Mike Polito, Bill DeRonde, Kevin O’Dea and Katie Hetland).

Dating back to November 2009, the Monster Ball drew 2.5 million fans and grossed over $227 million, becoming the biggest tour by a debut artist and one of the of the highest-grossing tours of all time.

And Gaga is already planning a new tour and will be back on the road next year. “The Monster Ball kind of lives on through the new show,” she said of the upcoming worldwide tour in support of Born This Way. “We just do sort of evolving variations on this theme, sort of beautiful idea of all of the fan getting together, which is what the Monster Ball is all about.”

The 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on Sunday, September 18th at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Lady Gaga is set to attend the award ceremony.

In case you haven't noticed it yet... You're the only one still talking about the VMAs. Why is it that you're always trying so so hard but seem to get nowhere?
