I believe she is an artist. It takes not only great talent, but great artistry to pull off half the things she does. The Papparrazzi video=artistry, her fashion=artistry. She isn't everyones cup of tea. but she is talented.

She is definitely talented! The comments against her seem to have no backing; even if I did not like some of her songs, I would never say that she is not talented. Only someone who is completely ignorant would make such a comment.

I think she was a mess at the VMAs.....but usually Gaga is a mess.
I'm not impressed with her at all besides with her voice. She can actually sing (when given the chance).

People with zero talent can't make it in the music industry. Whether you like them or not, they have to have some level of ability to even get a meeting with a record company.
Music is subjective. There are plenty of songs and artists that I don't care for, but I never deny that they have talent. They're obviously doing something right if they have a record deal. (People like Heidi Montag and Paris Hilton are excluded because they BOUGHT their way in.)
It's clear that the people who write two-sentence posts that basically boil down to "her music sucks" and "she's ugly" are ignorant to her story and how she has gotten to the level of popularity she's at. She is a classically trained pianist and attended NYU's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, and they don't just let anybody in...it's comparable to Juliard.
As for her fashion, well, it's getting people to talk, isn't it? She's been fairly consistent since she's been on the radar...she has an avant garde style and just goes for it.
For belonging to a community like the gay community that faces so much unfair criticism and hatred, it's pretty dumb that some of us get so worked up over a pop singer and spend so much energy spewing venom about how Lady Gaga looks different. It's a bit sickening.

This bitch is hardcore, PERIOD!! She totally rocks, dances, poses, struts, sings (not lip sync) & entertains. She is exactly what we have been missing for the past decade or so. Stage drama, not personal drama. I want my entertainer to entertain, not live for off stage drama. She has that something that Madonna had when she first came out. She also has paid her dues like Madonna & I would bet my whole Madonna collection ($350 Xtatic Process book included) that she basically becomes the same level of performance as Madonna. Britney has let me down so many times & hers has past. Xtina wants to play mama. Beyonce is going towards films, but she doesn't inspire as much as she could. GaGa is the new blood. She has the X & IT factors.
Remember she is, for all we are told & seen, is who she is. No parent agent, no handlers, no record company controlling her music. So if you hate her, it's because she is too much of an artist & performer that most have not seen in a good decade. Well I don't know if she is goth but bingo last night.... She came on in purely current Steam punk attire, then the blood scene very cyberpunk yet the bleeding part or carnival act of many hard rock ... black metal acts or go back to cheezy chubster Grand Daddy Gene Simmons, KISS.
Now I dig blood spewing from some long hair dude wearing King Diamond Face paint praising Satan and turning the cross upside down because well that's cool and rough but this sissy bullshit looks so tired and silly with her.
So insincere but make the bills while you can because that turntable on the dance floor won't spin these tunes for very long.
She cries for respect Baby Gaga doesn't deserve. She may be a gay or a guy that isn't a issue but to me I saw drag queens that have her every move down and like the hottie shorts to show the perfect camel toe--- several times this past weekend at different clubs. She has there exact moves down! Or they hers, as did drag queens I saw 10 yrs ago.
But for me I gained some respect for the sideshow over the bland spartan basic faceless songs that in a club without video, or with just resembles a hundred over lame dance songs that play the T-dance circuit for a few months then disappear into gay T-dance purgatory! Fun at the time but I really think its the same artist all these years just passing the craft down to their prodigy and changing the make up in this clown circus.
But one thing is certain everyone likes what they like & thats cool.
Gaga is a lot better than that talentless Russell Brand. He's not funny.

So I hated her until about a week ago. I don't know what flipped inside of me but I sort of get it now. Now I have Paparazzi stuck in my head and I'm obsessed with that mickey mouse outfit.
Just think of it this way, as far as pop music goes, she's not bad. Pop music is not really about talent or necessarily what the music sounds like, it's about an overall idea that you can sell. Beyonce is a diva, britney spears had the whole innocent-gone-bad thing, etc. etc.
So I started thinking, okay, maybe I'm not supposed to take this entirely seriously. We're supposed to not look too much into this, laugh along and just take it in. So then I watched the paparazzi video, really liked the concept and the costumes, and then got the chorus stuck in my head. I still think it's kinda dumb, but it's just for fun.
Remember, it's pop music. We're not looking to break barriers here, we're looking to sell an image and to sell records.
The VMA performance was memorable, you have to admit. If the previous post about it being based on an opera is true, that's pretty cool. I just love the image of her hanging there with blood IN HER EYES. So gross and awesome.
