Still haven't listened to it. lol Impatiently waiting for the 11th. Before leaks existed you had to wait until the day of release.

I listened to it. I love Gaga. Saw her in concert. HATE this CD. It's awful. And trust me I want to love it.

I actually sat down and listened to the entire leaked CD(hey, what can I say - I actually dug Applause and Aura grew on me), and just found it very... dull. The ONE track that stood out for me in a GREAT way was Sexx Dreams - it's got a great vibe, seems to have more thought put into it than G.U.Y., which has more of a good feel to it than Venus(though I like strange synthpop songs like that - reminds me a little of Crash from Gwen Stefani).

The rest? Well... like I said, I found it to get very dull(I found Jewels and Drugs to be so out of place, and Gypsy, the big ballad, just isn't my bag) - and I was hoping that all the talk of ART wasn't just... you know, talk.

Just heard the entire album. Manicure, Venus, Applause, Do What You Want, Artpop, Sexx Dreams, Jewels and Drugs and G.U.Y. are my favorites. Swine and Aura are good but I enjoyed the iTunes Festival versions more. Dope and Fashion! are pretty good too. Those two will probably grow on me the more I hear them.

I'm kinda the same. The first couple of times I listened to Artpop I was really disappointed and thought it was just awful. It's grown on me a bit since then, but my main letdown is that nearly of the lyrics are just rubbish - the songs are either overly pretentious or about generic stuff (drugs, sex fashion).

But that said, some of the music itself is still really good. I think Swine is one of her best songs and I really like Aura too, mainly because it's pretty weird. I would have loved Dope so much if the lyrics weren't so crappy and awkward, but it's still nice to listen to. I came around on a couple of the sillier fun songs too, like Donatella and Do What U Want, but the rest isn't very memorable at all for me.

If Gaga was trying to write a good fun album then I'd say well done, but she's been building Artpop up for years now and I don't think it's really done anything that new or exciting, unfortunately :\

Re: Lady Gaga jumps the shark, models "space dress" gimmick

She was always more "publicity stunt" than "performance art". I think this is actually one of the cooler things she's done recently.

I was unaware that she modeled this dress until you posted this thread. So, you know, mission accomplished, yes?

If memory serves, ArtPop is in stores tomorrow in the US. Can Cupid fill us in, please?

It was a release party in the city---she said her people designed this but others think it may have other more practical uses. Of course she is just trying to get some attention as everything is about getting publicity today in this attention deficit world.

Pretty much. I had no idea she did this and I like her.

She does things for attention because she has always done it because it always works. She likes theatrics and wants the world to be her audience. Whether you want to be in that audience is on you.

Re: Lady Gaga jumps the shark, models "space dress" gimmick

First cursory listen...enh. It sounds like pop, but the hooks aren't there to keep me coming back.

All I can think of when I see that is her screaming at the top of her lungs, "LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME".

I like some of her music, but her fame-whoring is a little over the top.

Ostentatious is one of my favorite words and it so perfectly describes her.

She does have some decent music in there but her garish displays turn most people off to her.

 Ostentatious is a great word.

And yeah, she actually does have some talent. She has a pretty decent singing voice, and quite a few of her songs are catchy as fuck, but yeah. The image she puts out really makes me not want to admit I'm a fan of hers.

Well she did mention that there will most likely be 2 volumes and that the first one will contain the more commercial songs.

This album is so much fun.

Do What U Want is my jam. (ww)

R Kelly really made the song. I like his vocals.
