Leather is Dead Skin

An article by PETA, cause they don't embellish anything. While there are some organizations the treat their animals inhumanely, not all of them do. PETA would often have you believe otherwise. I do believe that all animals should be treated humanely, but I do not believe that all animal products should be banned either.

PETA...

People for the Eating of Tasty Animals.

I have eaten cow, pig, sheep, fish, chicken, duck and other creature products during my lifetime.

I've killed chickens before to prepare to eat, I routinely gut and clean fish myself, and I'm not afraid to wear leather shoes.

If you have issues with that fine, that's your perogative. I don't tell you how to live.

It bugs me when people don't like to be reminded that what they are eating / wearing is a dead animal, get all squeamish thinking about the animals being killed, but still go on and eat meat and wear leather. As pointed out all animals should be treated as humanely as possible, but everybody should face up to the fact that somewhere along the line a living creature has been slaughtered for your shoes.

Incidentally it's National Vegetarian Week in the UK. I have great respect for those who don't eat meat (or wear leather) out of principle, but I get bored of it fairly quickly.

So, it's not possible to make leather clothes out of dead animals?

no matter how you look at it..
or how you go about it..
there's absolutely nothing humane about killing
there are plenty of things we can use to make shoes off
no blood needs to be shed :(

Cows are cool? Have you ever met a cow? No conversation whatever, and they smell to high heaven.

I've often wondered what PETA thinks we should do with cows? Let them roam free and live until a ripe old age, writing poetry and dancing in the fields and contributing to the wellbeing of cowkind, until they drop dead of "natural" causes? Like starvation, or predators? Lingering disease?

Cows were specifically bred for the purpose of feeding and clothing humans. Maybe that's not right to your morality, but it's what they're there for. They cannot survive on their own... so what should we do? Keep them as pets? Put them in zoos? Let them go extinct? What?

...and, if I were a woman, I'd wear fur. I guess I'm going to PETA-hell.

A few years ago at an international conference in here in S.A., some PETA nuts came all the way from America to protest here.

They had huge banners with a cute little baby piglet and the sentence, "Did your dinner have face?" on it. The picture appeared in the local morning paper the following day.

I was quite amused considering the family dinner of the previous evening had included a baked sheep's head and I had eaten the tongue and cheeks from the head.

Here is a little expose of PETA's methods: Penn & Teller Bullshit! - PETA

Not to get all biblical and such but God did say something along the lines of I put forth all manner of plants and animals to protect, feed, and care for you.

If it's ok with the big guy it's ok with me.

i heard soil is dead animals and their skin, plants and even people oO

OP ,so I am gonna assume you dont wear leather and are a vegetarian (because if you not then this thread is a tad hypocritical) do you use soap? lip balm? any cosmetics? its not just leather! your hard pushed to find ANYTHING without an animal product in (for all veggies who thought HARIBO was vegetarian friendly.....think again)

people have been killing animals for thousands of years to survive, i grant you that now we use a lot more of it, but why is it become such an issue?!
animals were killed in much worse and slower ways not so long ago.

and as one poster pointed out, if its ok for every other carnivore on the planet, why not us?

^^^but the fact that we make coats, and furniture and god knows what else out of it is a good thing! nothing goes to waste (ok so some parts do but most of those not even wild predators would eat)

Amazing video clip.

I've just canceled my membership to Peta

I'm pleased that I could help someone see the lunacy that is PETA - People for Extortion, Terror and Abuse.

I have myself had to perform experiments on animals for my academic work and I know the scientific value of animal experimentation and of all the medical breakthroughs that have been made as a result of experimentation on animals.

Those PETA and ALF fuckwits would even ban the owning of pets and would rather not cure cancer and AIDS than experiment on animals!

Sheeps HEAD ?

I think I'll pass on that.

Indeed, we had offal stew for dinner that evening, but my dad likes to bake the head crispy, the cheeks of a sheep are some of the most tender and delicious meat you'll ever eat. My dad even eats the eyes and brain. Correctly prepared offal is better than "proper" meat.
