Well first of all I wanted to find out how many people look back on this game as a masterpiece (I mean every single iteration) I remember first playing Ocarina of Time when I was younger - we rented it from the store. But the TV that was rigged up to the N64 was broken and took about an hour and a half for the picture to be clear after turning it on. I waited that hour and a half every single time I switched it on to play the game.

Twilight Princess has quickly become my favourite now, I'm playing through it for about the 7th time now. That's just a guess it's probably more times. I have never managed to collect the 60 poe souls though. Got everything else... just not the souls. I love this game - it is and will always be my favourite game series; it's the reason I stuck with Nintendo. Plus some of their other games. I just love what they are able to create.

There are a lot of rumours going around that we are to hear of a new Zelda game announced some time this year (Oh, I hope so) and remember when Twilight Princess was released this would be the last Zelda of it's kind and I was wondering what you all wanted to be in the game. I know it most likely won't be there, but just for fun and a little speculation.
I would really like to see Zelda herself become a more prominent character - I think that Twilight Princess did a little better with her but I still think she could be more. I would really like to see her become playable at some point in the game... maybe for a bonus mission or something "what Zelda had to endure within the clutches of Ganon"
Lot's of people want to see a multiplayer online - I wouldn't mind if it was online or local. But I can't really see what they could do, if they added a multiplayer it would have to be awesome unlike the DS one.
I want Link to have a Crossbow now.
And most of all I want all the villages in Hyrule to have a personality again. Twilight Princess lacked a bit of personality and Kakariko village needs to be green and grassy again - or at least have some people working in the inn.
I don't really know what else... but now onto the "new" Zelda.
What do you think it'll be like? I really hope they don't change the formula completely and make some sort of Fire Emblem out of it (though I doubt they would since that is their franchise too - they would be competing with themselves.
How do you think they are going to refresh the series?

I still haven't completed Phantom Hourglass.

You think Ocarina of Time ruined the series - or just was the best they could have done for it?
It's all been sort of similar since OOT. But it doesn't matter to me - the games are so epic that I will just treasure them.

That's why I was curious as to what they plan to do to refresh the series.

No, I mean I think with OoT they pushed everything to epic scale :) I lost track of the series after that though, mainly cause I ended up not having the consoles to play them on.

That's what I thought you meant.
Well, like I said, I bought the consoles entirely for this game.
Just so happens there are other games that I wouldn't mind playing either...

The Ocarina of Time for N64 and Link's Awakening for Game Boy Color were IMO the best Legend of Zelda games in the entire series.

Many a late night were devoted to trying to beat those two games. I was addicted, it was all I could think about back in those days.

And remember in Link's Awakening where you could go in that shop and steal stuff? LMAO! I didn't care about getting zapped to death or called "Thief" by the rest of the characters in the game. I was able to get a snazzy new bow and arrow set with my trusted five finger discount.

I think I downloaded Link's Awakening on WiiWare. Haven't played it yet though so I don't know about the whole stealing thing.

And I can still play Ocarina of Time today I still love it that much (don't think I can get through the water temple without a walkthrough though) even after all this time!!!

I thought that Twilight Princess was almost a remake of Ocarina of Time (but don't tell Xbox fanboys that I said so) so that they could use the new plot for the next game whilst changing the gameplay... perhaps?
WindWaker was amazing too though, I know a lot of people had issues with the sailing and stuff but it didn't bother me to much. I loved the whole sister being kidnapped thing. *Spoiler* And Pirate Tetra being Zelda *Spoiler* and I spent hours on Windfall Island messing about with the poor girl and the rich girl - Mina and Maggie!!!!oops!

Never played beyond the Super Nintendo, but I was a huge fan of the first 3 Zelda games. I still have them hanging around the apartment somewhere.

I didn't care much about Zelda before the N64, but ever since Ocarina of Time I've fallen in love with the series.

I must admit that I wasn't a big fan of Twilight Princess. I mean it's a great game and all, but it just didn't feel like it was as great as it could have been.

Maybe I should replay it just for the heck of it. But still, after Majora's Mask (which I absolutely hate), Wind Waker and Twilight I'm yet to play something as good as Ocarina of Time. It just had that "right" feeling that I haven't felt with other Zeldas.

i only played twilight princess and wow i must say Link is gay! All that moaning and grunting that`s all he ever does!! Lol Midna is his hag XD

i liked it though, I`m a hardcore Final Fantasy fan so i guess i enjoyed LOZ.

I don't know what it is, but I just kinda stopped caring for Zelda once it hit the N64 and haven't really cared for any since then.
The last one I played that I enjoyed was A Link to the Past for SNES, although Phantom Hourglass wasn't half bad.

I've just found a video for the next Zelda - it's obviously fake - set in the future. I had to laugh at the video as they tried to sell this as the next Zelda.
It was, apparently, an April fools thing. Like Nintendo was going to risk this franchise by changing what it was about entirely...

I love the series, although I still need to finish Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass, took a long hiatus from them. Not sure which one is my favorite, My top 3 are Ocarina of Time, Link to the Past, and The Legend of Zelda. I also really liked Wind Waker, but I didn't like the traveling with your boat, it felt like it took too long to get certain places.
Windwaker was my favorite. I lived off Ballad of Gales. I guess I like Windwaker so much because it was the first game I played and then went back to Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time before Twilight Princess.

A Link to the Past was an absolutely fantastic game. Almost as good as Ocarina of Time.

I do think that Ocarina of Time was quite possibly one of the best Zelda series' games ever created. The Water Temple sucked my ass. Other than that, it seemed like it lasted forever, and I didn't want it to end. Every aspect about it was awesome.

I have LOVED every single Zelda game that Nintendo has come out with.

Although, even though I have a Wii (as scains knows - MK anyone?) I have yet to play Twilight Princess for more than 20 minutes. What is wrong with me?

My favourite will always be the Ocarina of Time. I finished Twilight Princess, but honestly, it did feel too much like a remake of OoT for me to enjoy it. It also felt like they were doing some theft (Darkness = Kingdom Hearts, anyone?). I dunno, it was just odd.
But the Ocarina of Time was simply brilliant. Had the right stuff, the right story, everything was perfect. Not many games can do that, even now. FFVII apparently, I feel FFX did awesome as well.

But Ocarina of Time will always have a special place in my heart. Majora's Mask is my runner up in the LoZ series, with Link's Awakening as third, and then the two Oracles games having a participation prize.

I'd probably be branded with an S in the video game world, but the Zelda series did NOTHING for me. I played Legacy of Kain series before Zelda and I feel that it did everything better. Vampires > Elves. And if you've ever read/seen the story, LoK is by far the better story told compared to ANY zelda storyline. Hell the only reason I even like Zelda/Link is because of Super Smash Bros.

Anyone who can say LoZ is better than those games obviously played LoZ first and are trapped in some sort of novelty dreamland. It's the same dreamland where people say Super Mario Bros. is the best video game ever.

It is NOT the best video game ever. Is it the video game that contributed to the industry the most? I'll give you that. But the best game ever? Really? Quit lying to yourself and get over your nostalgia.

If everyone was as nostalgic as video gamers as a whole, we'd never progress as a species. I'm actually surprised how far the video game industry has come with the majority of it's people like that. Reminds me of people who insist on looking for a hidden meaning/message in movies and can't just watch and enjoy a movie for what it is. Entertainment.

Well see my problem doesn't lie in the fact that people still love the old games. Hell i have plenty of old rpgs that I think are top notch, but if a better one comes along, then a better one comes along. The problem is when i see top 100 games lists and see Super Mario as the number 1 game. I think it's ridiculous and it INFURIATES me. Probably more than it should, but god if i could rip the person who made the list a new one i would.

My problem lies in the fact that I have never even heard of Legacy of Kain, yet. . .

But the best game ever? Really? Quit lying to yourself and get over your nostalgia.

Out of the games I played on my antiquated Nintendo systems, Zelda was the best.

Please don't call me a liar to my face before you know all the facts.
