Anyone who goes on TV and refers to someone with a vulgar or crude insult, demeans themselves and ought to be criticized. Obviously, the more crude and vulgar the insult, the stronger the speaker should be criticized. Unfortunately, we have become such a coarse society, that it doesn't seem to raise an eyebrow when a news commentator says that something sucks. (Just heard Richard Wolfe on MSNBC say Carl Rove's snot has a better chance of being on the Republican ticket than Sarah Palin -- unnecessary and crude on a news show). News programs should obviously be held to a higher standard than a comedy show.

My problem, Chance, is that you completely ignore that Limbaugh went on a 3 day rant, not only calling Sandra Fluke a slut and prostitute, but commented on her sex life, and made crude and vulgar statements about her repeatedly over 3 days of his shows. No one else, whether right wing or left wing, has done that in my memory. We're not talking about someone who made a crude or uncalled for comment in the heat of the moment. Limbaugh had three days to calmly consider what he said. He got persistently worse.

That's because Rush Limbaugh is the textbook definition of hubris. He felt he could get away with it (and with his listeners, he can) because (regardless of anyone on the left) he is not only a bully but a bully with power. He is a "Mean Girl" personified.

I had a conservative friend proudly crow in my face that Carbonite lost 12% on the stock market after they pulled out of his show and that should "show them."

His supporters are circling the wagons, which is why so much of the argument from the right is one of deflection.

all the dialogue right now is about Repubs and rightfully so - their primary exposes each of their flaws which are numerous

But the Pres. gets a pass

Big mistake - Mr. Axelrod should have consulted with you first. The next time you are in Chicago, you might wish to consider dining at Manny's - an old Chicago favorite. Mr. Axelrod has his own table there. If you can offer him the proper guidance, he might buy you a corned beef sandwich! :p Pres. Contraception: How clever!
