Little known facts

Everyone knows that the whale is a mammal, but what few know is that a small whale is breastfed, but not through direct contact like other land mammals...

Instead, the female whale throws away her milk while her child is near her to breastfeed, but whale milk has a high-fat content of 50%. Therefore, the form of milk is thick and sticky and does not dissolve in water.

So the baby whale can grab and eat the milk. A perfect breeding geometry.

The movie Jaws turns 50 this week, starting the Summer block buster phenomenon. The iconic theater poster with the woman swimming on the surface and the shark barrelling upwards toward her was not based on anything from the movie; but, instead, was based upon the cover art for the paper back edition of Peter Benchley's novel. :=D:

my favorite knock-off of that poster :rotflmao:

The traditional symbols for masculinity and femininity originated in Ancient Greece - and this is significant to know because the upwards pointing arrow does not represent the erect penis as many people seem to think that it does; it represents the shield and spear of a hoplite. While we are on the subject, the downward X shape does not represent the female reproductive system either. It represents a hand mirror (because women back then enjoyed doing their make-up just as much as women do today).

That rousing, over the top speech given by Bill Pullman, as President of the United States, towards the end of the movie Independance Day, had a subtle, hidden meaning behind the crowd pleasing theatrics. It seems that Warner Brothers owned the rights to the name "Independance Day" and 20th Century Fox, who was producing the movie, didn't want to pursue the legalities of acquiring the rights to the name. Or, rather, the bean counters didn't want to spend the money :rotflmao:. So, the movie was going to be called ID4. That is, until the pre-release screenings. When 20 CF saw the audience reaction to the speech; and, to the movie in general; and, the negative reactions to the ID4 name, 20 CF negotated with Warner Brothers.

They should have started from scratch.

If I remember correctly, Pullman ended his speech by proclaiming "Today we celebrate our independence!" or something like that.

They may have been attacked by the aliens, they may have been threatened by them, but they weren't dependent on them.

With today's smart phone technoloogy, if one wants to take the time and effort, one can scroll back in time on your callendar app to October 1582; and, see the 11 days that were dropped when the World's countries began switching from the Julian callendar to the Gregorian callendar. Julian Thursday, 4 October 1582, being followed by Gregorian Friday, 15 October 1582. :=D:
