The Brooklyn Bridge's support towers contain wine storage cellars below the water line. They were utilized by New York's 4 & 5 star restaurants before 1920 to store excess wine. Prohibition closed them and they were never opened after repeal.

Did you know a rainbow is actually supposed to be a full circle? You usually can’t see the full circle because most of the time the rainbow lies beneath the horizon. There is no rain and weather underground either. But in special circumstances, as seen in an airplane one can make out the full circle. Typically it’s when an airplane is overlooking a waterfall or sea.

If left alone, 70% of birthmarks gradually fade away. (Can't find a source for that one) I bet that character from Hawthorne's short story about a birthmark would feel like a real dick knowing that one.
A credible neuroscientist claimed that the suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus has synapses from projections that receive input from photoreceptors in the human back. I have never found evidence to support that claim, and the man was too intimidating for me to ask after the lecture.

I saw a 3/4 rainbow my first day in Hawaii years ago, on Maui in Kapalua. It was a great introduction to the islands.

So few? The world population is around 7 billion. If half are too old or too young, that would leave 3.5 billion. Sexual intercourse obviously requires two people, so if those 3.5 billion had sex every day there would be 1.75 billion occasions. If my maths is right (unlikely!), the figure of 120 million suggests that the average person within the half who have sex does so on only around 7 days in every 100.

Maybe mostly sexless places like Japan knock down the numbers, but I don't know of enough places with "celibacy syndrome" to reduce them to 7 out of 100. Plus, the way this is worded doesn't say that 120 million people commit acts of sexual intercourse, so people with particularly satisfying days increase the figure if they take breaks between to account for the refractory period. Guess it's not accurate.

I find that number credible. The notion that couples have sex nightly is a bit much. Even gay couples who may have sex more than straights (may not) would be similar. Saturday night is Saturday night.
