Turns out it's America's 12th largest - and fast-growing - city - Fort Worth, Texas.
The nickname has been around since the 1870s. Fort Worth was hit hard by depression in 1873. In 1875, Robert E. Cowart wrote in the Dallas Herald that Fort Worth was so slow he saw a panther asleep in the street by the courthouse.
Fort Worth's fortunes rebounded in 1876. The locals took the insult and made it a point of pride. It's been Panther City ever since.

We have three different wi-fi routers in the house. We started with one, but couldn't stream more than one movie at a time, so we put in a second one. Then I tried playing an online video game while there were two movies streaming at once, and the game lagged, so now we have three.

It turns out that the phrase was written by Benjamin Hawkins in the late 18th century. He was a politician and Indian agent. While in the south, Hawkins was requested by the President of the U.S. to return to Washington. In his response, he was said to write, “God willing and the Creek don’t rise.” Because he capitalized the word “Creek” it is deduced that he was referring to the Creek Indian tribe and not a body of water.
