Lockdown at the US Capitol

"The Oathkeeper's" girlfriend pled guilty to tampering with evidence related to the coup attempt. She could get 20 years in prison.

...SoRelle had close ties to pro-Trump and “Stop the Steal” groups in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, according to court documents and her own public statements. She is also the former girlfriend of Rhodes, the leader of the Oath Keepers, and has claimed to be the general counsel for the militia...

Again. Just in time to be pardoned.

Former Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Lt. Shane Lamond was convicted Monday of obstructing an investigation into the former Proud Boys national chair, Enrique Tarrio, just weeks before the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

Yes, Biden or whoever is calling the shots has made it easy to pardon just about anybody after who they have pardoned.

I think he means in the like list. I agree the only option we have is the angry one.

Yes. I was just saying that as your post appeared. Laughing at someone or angry is not the same as disapproval.

If I just used the thumbs down icon in a post, mods would delete my post for no commentary.

In xenForo, that's the "reactions" list (emojis aka smilies are the thing on the edit toolbar).

We looked at adding more options to the reactions list but the way it's setup, each icon on the reactions list adds/subtracts from the member's "like" score.

The first three (like, love, haha) add +1 to the posting member's reaction score. The last 3 (wow, sad, angry) are neutral and don't add any points. If we added a "thumbs down, we would be left with the question of making it 0 points (which already has 3 options) or -1 which seems unfair. 🤷‍♂️

Every reaction I leave is for the content of the post. #-o
That's the flaw in the reaction score system. It doesn't add/deduct from the post or the thread; it rewards or punishes the member. :(

I think people need to see some of the people pardoned by Biden.
Pardons are for criminals who are guilty. If they were good people, they wouldn't have been convicted and they wouldn't need a pardon.

At the end of every Democratic Administration, conservatives whine about pardons. Yet, they never propose a change to the Constitution to get rid of or reform the pardon power which is an absolute power in the Constitution.

Meanwhile, there's a guy who is about to become President who was documented as selling pardons and pardoning people, like Steven Bannon and Mike Flynn, who were directly involved in crimes that involved Donald Trump.

The problem with the pardons that Jan 6th criminals are likely to be granted next month is not that they were pardoned. The problem is that the ringleader was never adjudicated in the Justice System. Donald Trump should be in prison with them.

When both sides agree that the pardon system is corrupt, both Democratic and Republican Presidents abuse the power and that it needs to be fixed... and then actually do something about it... that would be a worthwhile endeavor. In the meantime, these clutch-the-pearls editorials aren't worth the time of day.

The Us presidential pardon system is so corrupt at this point that it is just another imperial perq that props up the idea of the President as some sort of King above the law.

Which is exactly where it came from- the English legal system. It's a mystery why a country founded on getting rid of the abuses of a King and a Pope still copied something from the Magna Carta that gave the regent the papal power of total absolution.

AS we approach the anniversary of Trump's insurrection against the US government, let's not forget how his adminsitration set the stage.

Our revolution was hardly revolutionary. Ther was no "reform" of the legal system because it was operating just fine for the rich white men of the time, who made the revolution, not so much to change the social order, but to get rid of that pest on the English throne who kept taking their money.

Our revolution was not jnspired by egalitarian outrage over the inequities of society, it was a tax dispute successfully sold to half the country as liberty. Not everyone wanted out of Britain, they just had to suck it up.

That said, it was a step in the right direction. But maybe those Tories will get the last laugh, we got rid of Mad King George and crowned Mad King Toad.
