Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

And you miss the point as well. The queen is hardly racked with illness. I think she genuinely did not like that children in pjs were singing the national anthem, but since I'm not British, I can't be sure. During another point of the ceremony she was seen picking at her cuticles.

So you have access to the Queen,s Medical History ?
For an 86yr old woman who puts in over 50hrs a week working and also travelling to many other countries , are you surprised that
she is so well loved ?

Also to my Knowledge , i dont think Her Majesty was on the planning board for the event ? #-o

He's not hairy enough for your tastes Corny. Leave this one to me. ;)

most likely he even can't grow hair on his chest. but i loved how happy and proud he was. .. it's not just the hair that makes me interested in a guy ;)

Re: Todays the Day! 2012 London Summer Olympics!

C'mon Aussies!! As long as we beat the Brits and Yanks we're fine. Fair play everyone.(!)

^ The Chinese are reigning supreme at the moment!

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

That was such an amazing. There was a subtle drum beat throughout and Emeli Sandé's rendition of the song was so beautiful and haunting. I don't know why NBC would cut it out and replace it with Ryan Seacrest and Michael Phelps.

The article mentioned 'time delay'. Does NBC not broadcast 'live'?

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

Whatever reason NBC cut it out, I'm sure they were hugely mistaken.

Since the ceremony, I've read that the tribute was nothing to do with 7/7. The wall of photos of "those that could not be here" that was shown wasn't 7/7 related at all. Apparently those with tickets to the ceremony were emailed a couple of weeks beforehand asking if they had photos of any dead loved ones they would like featured.

Bizarre, maybe. I don't get it, but it wasn't 7/7 (and thus "political") related.

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

^ Even so, was it less important than an interview between Seacrest and Phelps?

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

Of course not. Is anything less important than an interview between Seacrest and Phelps?

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

It was pretty cool pretty expensive too.
it's off to a good start at least.

Mr Bean's part being the best one IMO

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

We thought it was just right.

An antidote to the choreographed Titanic Olympic performances of the totalitarian Middle Kingdom or even the last rather ordinary efforts put on by other hosts, including the last US bun throw.

It was just about the epitome of what England is.

It is a shame that the tribute dance piece was cut by NBC. Try to see it on Youtube if possible.

They've got a billion people to draw on, and a nearly-industrial approach to churning out athletes.

If India put the same effort into the Olympics, the rest of us would be lucky to get a bronze here or there.

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

You have to remember it was just rape, pillage and plunder at the hight of the B E. The Americans picked up on that pretty quickly, not that there is anything wrong with that.
That said, I quite enjoyed the O C, I can't stand mr bean though. Loved Liz jumping out of the chopper.
