Looking - Season 2

Groff: The one thing ‘Looking’ taught straight viewers about gay sex

Jonathan Groff filmed his fair share of sex scenes during his time on the recently-cancelled Looking, but it seems that as well as wearing out our screenshot button, the show’s sexual escapades actually served to educate people about the finer mechanics of gay sex.

Speaking to Metro, the 30-year-old revealed that many of his friends had no idea that gay men could have sex face-to-face until they saw his saucy scenes broadcast.

I just finished Season 2 - I found it was a much more assured season and the characters better developed.

Having said that, Patrick just irritated the shit out of me. I find self-sabotaging characters really annoying.

HBO has notified us that Looking: The Complete Second Season has been delayed due to manufacturing issues. While we do not have an exact new street date, we expect it will be in the next few months. As soon as it arrives, we will ship orders immediately – Thanks for your understanding and patience.

Sounds like they are going to wait for the holiday season/ movie announcement. Smart marketing.

Axing Looking was "very painful", says HBO president Michael Lombardo

Looking will say goodbye with a series finale event next year.

HBO president Michael Lombardo confirmed at the TCA press tour today (July 30) that production on a one-off movie will begin this fall for a 2016 air date.

The Jonathan Groff-starring series about a tight-knit group of male friends was axed by HBO earlier this year, with the caveat that a two-hour finale would be produced.

Lombardo told reporters at today's press event that the decision to end Looking was "very painful" for him on "a personal level".

Personally, I judged it after watching like 3 episodes. Not everyone is going to like every show.

The Exit Interview With Looking Creator Michael Lannan

The out creator of HBO's polarizing drama about gay life tells us how he handled the show's criticism and cancellation, discusses the future of LGBT TV, and updates us

Some snickered, others sniffled when they heard the news in March that Looking, the HBO series about gay friends in San Francisco, would not live to see a third season. The show was beautiful, boring, honest, or rudderless depending on who you asked. But as one of the only shows to center exclusively on gay lives, its absence will certainly leave a void. The positive news: HBO did consent to a film that will give us a few more hours with Patrick, Richie, Dom, Agustin, and Doris. In a frank conversation, the show's creator and frequent writer, Michael Lannan, spoke about the movie and posited what the show's cancellation means for the future of gays in television.

The Advocate: Hi, Michael. What can you tell us about the movie?

Smelling nice and d**k socks – Jonathan Groff opens up about Looking sex scenes

Ahead of HBO’s upcoming Looking finale, Jonathan Groff has opened up about his sex scenes with co-stars Russell Tovey and Raúl Castillo.

In an interview with SiriusXM, the actor, who’s currently starring in Broadway musical Hamilton, spoke about the process of filming a sex scene on the show.

He said: “So, when you first get there and you take off the robes and you’re in your weird little dick sock and your anal cover, there’s usually some, like, laughter. And then we sort of talk about what is happening in the scene. And we sort of do a rehearsal with our shorts on or whatever. And then we do it.

“I find them really fun and enjoyable and funny and weird and hilarious and a great opportunity to share a lot about characters. There’s no words, so it’s an interesting thing to act.”
