It is a shame that she's gotten out, but you can't totally beat yourself up over it.

Have you checked the shelter?

Most cats do not wander more than a kilometre from their home, but she may be just scared and hiding. You should go door to door and talk to all the neighbours you know.

And offer a $1000.00 reward.

Keep your hopes up and I hope she is ok. She is probly scared if she is not use to being out, so that makes it harder to find. Keep looking around your house as she may not have gone far, but just wont come out due to being afraid.

We wish you luck and keep us posted if you find her.

Don't lose hope---One of mine got out last summer. He was gone for over 24 hours and I searched all over my apartments for him. My neighbor called me over and asked if I was looking for my cat. Alley (my cat) was on his patio hiding behind a rolled up carpet---just a few yards away from my place.

Wish you luck. (*8*)

Could she be in heat? Even fixed cats get the urge when it's that time and will stay out longer.

Sometimes they get stuck inside basements or garages, so maybe go around the neighbours' and ask them to check.

Wherever she is, she knows where home is and is bound to come back when she gets a chance.

Try to call her every now and then. She might be close but in hiding.

When I was a kid, my dog ran away from home and I didn't see him for three weeks. My mom put up fliars with pictures oh fim at all the local restaurants, and magically, the woman who took my dog in happened to be having lunch at Pizza Hut and saw the poster. My mom was going to give her a $500 reward, but the woman said that seeing me happy to see him again was the only reward she needed.

In slightly more related news: Cats just get caught up with other cats in the neighborhood. I'm more than sure your kitty went somewhere to get pussy.

Mine was gone for 5 days, then walked in like nothing had happened. I was a wreck. I also tended a cat while the owner was out of town, it bolted out the door and showed up three days later just minutes before the owner returned (we both acted as if nothing had happened). So don't give up hope yet, it's such an awful feeling, hope she shows up.

A similar thing happened with my cat - he disappeared one day, but I sort of blame my (well intentioned) neighbors. They were feeding him full cans of tuna and bowls of warm milk/cream rather than the vet recommended lean, dry food diet we had him on. Can't really say I blame my cat for sticking with the neighbors for a while.

I hope your cat turns up soon, but it can't hurt to keep asking your neighbors to keep an eye out for her. Good luck.

There's a great kid's book, 'Six Dinner Sid,' about a cat with six owners. All different lifestyles, and Sid is different in each setting. They eventually all meet and work out an arrangement. Great book.

Nomenclature
Extremely poor taste to make a joke while Black is going through this

Reassuring him by saying he's most likely fine, telling him to keep his hope up and trying to use humor to make the situation lighter is in poor taste?

Now that I remember, when I was really young, my cat was missing for a month because another family thought he was a stray and took him in.

So, i'm sure your kittiness is out there somewhere. Ask everywhere you can; Kitties have become far more desirable since the dawning of LOLcats.

80 hours? I think someone has your cat (probably trying to find who owns it and caring for it in the meantime) or keep trying the shelters. Ours sometimes sneaks away if I leave the back sliding door open and will come back within 24 hours if its left open. It would not be wrong to be hopeful if your area does not have any large/predatory animals that it could run into.

I hope you find your cat.:( (*8*)

Everytime i read stories like these i give my kitties a hug. I hope you find her/him :-)

Paws..

Again.

Do you contribute anything of worth?

We had a cat that was gone for six months. He came back on his own, healthy and happy. Evidently he had adopted someone else for a while.

I know what you are going thru, babe....

I remember when my first cat bolted out of the door one day. I couldn't find her anywhere... I put up posters on lamp posts, I wandered around the neighborhood shouting her name.... I thought all was lost. I couldn't stand not knowing what happened to her...

Then, maybe FOUR days later... I go out in the morning to start my car, and there she was... hiding in the bushes outside of my apartment door. I snatched her up and made sure she never got outside again.

The point is: These things happen ALL the time. Cats are incredibly smart and independent creatures. Yours knows where "home" is...

Don't give up hope. (*8*)

For REAL animal lovers........losing a pet IS losing one of the family.

I know exactly how you are feeling...... (*8*)

Thanks for the support :)

It's almost more then losing a member of the family, a chunk of me is missing. I'm remaining hopeful due to all the stories of cats coming back weeks later. All I can do is put in the effort.
*rubs neck, hugs shoulder*

hang in there
