Lost season 4

i'm currently re-watching season 2 (because my bf is finally watching!) and we're going to watch 3 again, which i got for x-mas. it's totally getting me even more excited for season 4.

i'm glad you found the DVDs for cheap, you really do need to see everything. and i'm sure if you can't sell it to someone here you can get at least that much for it somewhere.

Ehhhhh The show is the most overrated on TV... even more than Greys. It fell apart last season and revealed that it was nothing but nonsense and now they're putting up against the most underrated show on TV, Supernatural. The sad part is people are gonna keep watching it.

For some reason i've kind lost my interest in "Lost" partly due to their late premier, and partly due to the never ending story twisting.

See for me it was the tired sorry love triangle and the loose ends they don't bother to tie up. They through so many shocks at you that they either forget or think you won't notice if you don't tie half of them up. Than there was the horrible lack of continuity with the others and then I read an interview saying when they started the "Charlie is going to die" thing they never intended to kill him but they decided they probably should and to me that's just like... you have this show that is so centered around EVERYTHING having a meaning and something as monumental as a character death is just an after thought? Poor show... poor, poor, show that pays no attention to its wide and varied cast of characters.

Including yourself. You're one of those that always bitch about the show because it doesn't feed you all the answers to leave you with things to imagine. But you keep on watching it (and don't say you don't, you're previous posts make it apparent that you have watched more of the show than you are willing to admit.)

So bitch, bitch, bitch. We all know you're a closet Lost fan.

My problem is not with the fact there aren't answers it's because things have just begun to completely contradict each other and there are tons of things that are just never tied up. Like the huge ass four twoed foot they never addressed from the season 2 finally. Like Sun freaking shot a woman and no one seems to give a damn when before the others were so damn focused on the sins of the crash victims. Or the fact that throuhg season 2 the others seemed to have freaking magic powers and now they're just normal people.... wtf and then when Ethan Rom kidnapped Clare he had strength and speed that was humanly impossible but oh wait he's just a normal person too!! J J Abrams just hopes you get so distracted with how shocked you are that you won't be angry that it doesn't make any damn sense. It's a show that lives and dies on shock factor and events when it began as a legitimately character driven show. And I won't watch it and I haven't watched it but sporadically season three hoping it would make sense because i've seen every episode of seasons 1 and 2 but it never delivered and I'm washing my hands of the whole thing.

Supernatural is a terrible show.

And  @ people always needing answers to watch shows. I think it has excellent writing and the unanswered questions of the show are what keep people watching, because if they gave up any of the answers now, what would be the fun of that? Plus after they answered stuff, the would lose a lot of viewers, and that would be dumb on their part.

I don't see how it doesn't.

edit: I'm personally tired of shows that let you know what's going on right away or in the next few episodes or whatever, that's the beauty of Lost, is that they've shown that basically anything can happen and you really don't know what's going to happen. It's all about Mystery of it all, and it's great.

Supernatural is a freaking amazing show. It's the only legitimately character driven show on television and it doesn't beat the dead love triangle horse that every major show depends on. It beautifully plays out a season wide arch with a clear objective on the part of the protagonists, a bit of mystery in the beginning, an unforseen twist about halfway through, episodic adventures that parallel the things plagueing it's characters and cue the angst, the manly, I won't have emotions, attitude mix with two amazingly intricate characters and you have some of the best damn TV ever. Season two of Supernatural is pretty much the best storytelling I've ever seen. It's pure and simple drama much more than Lost.

And I've got no problem with mystery or suspense but to buy into such you have to trust the writers know exactly what they're doing and I don't believe that. They clearly just get to a point and say well what's the most shocking thing that can happen next... and then they do it which would be great if they put a justification that made sense in but they don't. It's just stupid.

I'm sure the writers of Lost know exactly what they're doing. I'm not saying the show is perfect. They knew exactly how to start the story and how it will end. But they didn't know the show would be this successful and last for 6 years (2 more seasons are confirmed.) So I'm fairly certain some of the twists were put in as fillers. Personally, I think they have been doing a fantastic job with the characters and the "filler".

Lost has been a victim of it's own success. It lured everyone in the first season with all these intriguing questions. Then in season 2 when most of these questions went unanswered and just made more questions, people like you started getting mad because they wanted more answers (yet wanted more episodes). However, giving away answers during the course of the show goes against Lost's original successful formula. If you want more answers now though, there are sources of spoilers if you look hard enough on the 'net.

I'm sure in a couple years when Lost concludes, you'll have most of your answers. But in the meantime, what's the point of Lost if you're not lost?;)

But they're not. There's a way to answer questions and EVOLVE based on those answers rather than just using FILLER. That's what good well written shows do they evolve because they're centered on growing and evolving characters rather than a static "twist." If the middle doesn't make a lick of sense I'm not sticking around to the end. Season three (at least the begining) was too Jack-Kate-Sawyer centric.. I can't remember the last time I even saw Sayid. Jin and Sun were woefully underused. Hurley never really does anything. They knew everyone loved Charlie so they tried to give him something to do and it just wound up killing him. They're so caught up in shock value that they've lost the intrinsic drama that arises when you confine everyone to one place and force them to run a society. The "Monster" undergoes huge periods of inactivity which is nothing more than the writers have nothing to do with it at that moment.

They don't know what they're doing. They killed Ana Lucia because she was unliked by fans. They got rid of everyone from the freaking tail of the plane and did relatively nothing with them while they were there. They more or less boxed themselves into a corner before realizing they HAD to kill Charlie. It's just poorly written. It's so caught up in itself that it's quality suffers. I doubt if the numbers even mean anything.

They don't know what they're doing but they know if they make it complicated enough they can fool people into thinking it is.

Then just stop watching dude and stop posting on Lost forums if it really makes your life that miserable. If the show's not for you then so be it. I know it's hard for people with ADD.

Ummm It doesn't make my life "miserable," I did stop watching, and I'll post in whatever forum I want.

I did stop watching
so how did you know they killed Charlie?

Even if you're just watching bits and pieces of it, that tells me you still have some interest in the show. Or even if you are reading up on it to find out some of these significant events that are happening on the show, I'd still say you're a closet Lost fan.

Dude I told you I use to watch it regularly and I watched sporadically last season. That's how I know what happened... it's really not that difficult.

You've made up your own mind, I don't understand the point of arguing with people who like the show, when you clearly don't. Just seems like you want to be right.

I'm just posting my opinion in a forum for opinions. I never understand when people get all upset because someone posts a different opinion on a forum. It happens when people post the picture of a guy too. They just want to read page after page of people saying "omg I love so and so."

I was bored, I saw a thread about Lost, I have an opinion about Lost so I posted that opinion. People replied to my opinion so I replied to those replies... its' that simple

Oh ok. You watched sporadically, and we know you watched the last episode aired (season 3 finale). Yeah, you really "stopped watching." (not watching between seasons doesn't count)

Thanks for admitting your status as an closet Lost addict, we understand and are here for support. ..|

Dude what are you talking about. I watched sporadically just like I said and I saw the finale because my friends were making a whole big deal and having people over and crap if you really must know. That is unless you prefer being condescending, accusatory, and inaccurate.

As the show resumes with Season 4, I look forward to discuss the show with you more as you continue to "not watch" it.

More new Lost promo stuff. An actual billboard in Portland, OR. Anyone here from Portland seen it?
