Lost season 4

OK, i have to say this since no one else has mentioned it. Even though it was alluded to before that Tom is gay, it was pretty much confirmed with this past episode. But screw the fact that he is the islands first gay resident (that we know of at least), am i the only one who thinks its wicked cool to have one of the bad guys as gay? I've hated this guy ever since he stole walt from the raft in season 1 finale, and now that we know for sure he bats for our team, i just think that's cool. Not just one time characters like in procedurals, but serious villians, like our Mr. Friendly (why is he called that anyway?), i'm not sure i've seen any in a TV show that i know of. What do you guys think, would u prefer your gay characters to be the hero or the villian?

As far as the comments on sex appeal on the island, i always thought that quota had been more than filled with the presence of Dominic Monaghan. Of course now that Charlie is a goner, there really is no one lol.
 
as for the time change difference between the island and the real world...I think we have to take into consideration that the flash forwards aren't all from the same time....it could be that Kate's flash forward was years in the future(which explains Aaron's growth) and Hugo's was another length of time in the future, Jack's and so on and so on
 
The flash forwards are taking place at different times in the same way the flashbacks did. Nothing confusing there.
 
Great news, Losties!!!

ABC has announced that Lost fans have just gotten an extra 1 hour of the show this spring. Now, during this stike-shortened season, Lost was deliverying 13 hours, but today added another hour.

It will be a 3-hour season finale with very unorthodox scheduling.

Hour 1: May 15, 10pm
Hour 2 & 3: May 29, 9-11pm


The creators insisted that hours 2 & 3 had to be televised back-to-back. Still, odd that it will be 2 weeks after hour #1 airs.
 
That's great news. I am glad they decided to not break the traditional 2 hour season finale episode. I think on May 22 are the Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy season finales. Although I don't know why ABC couldn't have moved those back one week instead of Lost.
 
My guess on the scheduling quirk is that May ratings sweeps typically ends prior to Memorial Day. I'm guessing that ABC wanted to get in the finale's of Betty and Grey's during sweeps....figuring they could get a ratings lift for their ad books. Because Lost is so serialized, they have a loyal audience that is very stable and a finale outside of the sweeps period is not a big deal for it.
 
In keeping up with my recaps (although I think only 2 people at JUB watch this show). . .

Last night pretty much picked up right where it left off last month. Ben's daughter (?) Danielle is taken hostage by Widmore's ship assault team to get to Ben. It turns out that it wasn't Ben who planned Rousseau and Karl's death. . . . or did we really? Danielle is shot, Ben says she wasn't his daughter and meant nothing to him. Then he unleashes old smokey on Widmore's people for a welcome return after a long absence.

In flash forwards he goes after Widmore and informs him he's going to have his daughter killed (Desmond's lost love Penelope). But Ben said Widmore changed the rules by killing Danielle. Could Ben and Widmore have actually been partners?

This was the first show shot after the writers strike. Apparently, Matthew Fox ate very well during the strike, as Jack seemed to look a bit bloated since we last saw him.

Overall a decent episode. Although the pace near the end was a bit too much with all the story revelations they crammed into the last segment. The show has become so Ben-centric that I'm concerned about our other favorite main characters getting much less exposure.
 
I should correct myself. I meant Alex not Danielle as Ben's so-called daughter. Rousseau is/was Danielle.

Another interesting detail. The voice of the "code 14J" on the phone is the same voice of Dharma warning system and countdown (remember the button?) This implies Ben is likely connected to all that as well.
 
This was a solid episode...lots of revelations. That was good. Micheal Emerson should get an Emmy...he is awesome as Ben...the smirks, the body language. He is just bad ass--love how quickly he turned the table on the two horsemen in Tunisia. And his bewildered expression when they shot Alex left quite an impression with me. And speaking of bad ass, the charcoal smoke monster was not only back but bigger and better than ever. How 'bout when he dragged the dude into the forest?

And the time travel storyline continues to confuse. As I see it, when the ocean liner doctor's body-- slit throat and all-- showed up on shore, and later when the scientist lied about the morse code signal, my interpretation is that the island is ahead of the boat....hence, the boat was saying the dr was still alive when, apparently, he is killed later and his body shows up on the island.

Widmore looked older and weaker than in previous episodes in the flash-forward to 2005. Could he have possibly been on this island before with Ben (but not know it's location) and have been afflicted with the non-aging syndrome than seemingly afflicted Ben's partner from last year (I always forget his name, but he's coming back in a few episodes). And why can't Ben/Widmore kill each other? Ben told Widmore that since I can't kill you, I'll go after your daughter.

Finally, Qixote, you mentioned Matt Fox looking "bloated" on this first post-strike episode. However, I am pretty certain that this was the last pre-strike episode and that next week is the first post-strike ep. I read in EW when the strike ended that the producers felt like the next-to-last pre-strike ep made for a better "mini-finale" and that last night's ep fit more with what they were doing on the final eps of the season. Hey, maybe he looked bloated because Jack was supposed sick in last night's show.

But several episodes ago we already learned the opposite, that the island's time is behind the boat's.
My take on the whole dead doctor thing is that the person replying on the boat was lying. I think it was Michael that killed the doctor and was also the one that replied in morse code. He was trying to make sure that nobody else finds out or becomes suspicious that he's killing the boat people to carry out Ben's orders.

I dunno. . . I think he kinda looked the same, only that he was unshaven and hungover. And he had been sleeping when Ben arrived. But evidently something has been troubling his life.

I suppose. All I know is he didn't look like is usual self. So it could be intentional since he is getting sick. (soon to be knocked off the show?)
 
:DAt least I'm consistent with my time travel confusion ( I hate when shows to the time travel route). You're probably correct about it being Micheal.

I've heard Jack has an appendicitis in coming eps.
 
How many times did I go 'holy shit' during the episode, I don't know. I literally got up twice during the episode and sat in front of the television because I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Certainly the best episode of this season (yes better than 'The Constant') and has the most shocking moments of television for me since Ana Lucia/Libby double kills and Locke in the wheelchair reveals.
 
One of the best episodes this season. The smoke monster attacking the attackers, while Ben was saying good bye was one of the best scenes in a while. Should be interesting next week. Hopefully we find out more about Jacob.
 
I heard on E! News that Greg Grunberg(from Heroes) who played the Pilot in the first episode was down on the Hawaiian island the film on filming with them....so for some reason the pilot comes back into the story
 
A couple of thoughts.

number one----remember that we have seen that Future Jack has a pills popping problem. We are now seeing signs of that starting while on the island. He is feeling the pressure of his leadership and his promise to get them off the island.

number two-----It has been hinted that "time is a loop" and that you cannot change what is meant to be (Penny's father telling Ben "you know you can't kill me"-------plus Chalies eventual death after Desmond tried many times to "save" him). So taking those things into account, who thinks that the skeletons found in the cave (first season) by Jack and Kate ARE Jack and Kate. Jack found a bag with two marbles (black and white, yin/yang) and took them and kept them. Jack took them from Jack, who will be buried with them, to have them taken again by Jack............
 
My theories have mostly all been wrong this season. But one of my latest is that the tall creepy orderly that talked to Locke in the hospital, and has appeared on other occasions in other people's flash florwards is none other than . . . Walt . . .:eek:
 
No, I don't think he's Walt. When the Islanders are back in the realworld/time, only four or five years have past. Plus, that guy also appears in John's flashBACK.

But I HAVE heard the theory that Arron is Jacob.........

I kind of got from that, especially given Never Aging Nestor Carbonell appearing in the flashback as well with the ever creepy Matthew Abaddon, there's definitely some kind of time thing going on. It's what they've been trying to show us all this season so technically, there is a possibility that he could be Walt somehow but I think that's too huge a reach.

I'm really freaking out about Claire though. The only way I can see Claire giving up Aaron is because somehow she died. I hope she's not dead.

And WTF is up with the helicopter making it back to the island in real time? Unless Frank flew the wrong berring on purpose to buy them all some time. Of course, even flying the right berring still takes you from island to ferry in 2 days so now I'm really confused.

Loved the episode but I felt like it was a return to the overly confusing, more questions than answers, season 3 episodes we got early season and I didn't enjoy those as much.
