I'm a film major and really interested in looking at ratings for shows and things like that and this weeks new episode of LOST had around 13 million viewers, less than the show it gets constantly compared to (Heroes) got this week.

That's a huge dip from the norm of upwards of 17 or so mil a week. I understand last night was Valentines Day, but the week before only had about 14 mil viewers, still less than the normal.

My point? Did anyone stop watching LOST for any of the reasons ABC and the writers have given us to (huge break, loss of quality, convulted storlyines, timeslot change). Anyone still watching?

For the record I DO still watch.

I still watch it and like it. Never know what will happen next. Major characters get killed off...

Convuluted story lines? The main reason I watch this show is to try and think about what I just saw rather than mindlessly gaze at the tv, forgetting what I was watching the next morning.

That was fun and interesting in the beginning, but it really doesn't lead anywhere. The writers keep shoving in all these 'clues' and things to look out for, but I'm starting to think most of them are just put in there for no reason other than to confuse people.
They keep throwing in new 'twists' or plot lines, and while trying to keep up, everything that they brought up in earlier episodes is just forgotten.

I hate how they keep saying 'Well, we know where we're going with the story' because at this rate the series is going to end with one huge exposition episode like 'Ok, now this is what it all means'.

I'm a diehard fan but not naiive. Even I can see you're right in a lot of your points because I feel the same way sometimes, especially this season. We're three seasons in and we still don't know the answers to even the most basic questions.

I don't want everything here and now, but I'd like a better balance between introducing new mysteries and solving older ones.

I still watch. I love it. I haven't watched last nights recording yet. I think it's not so much that the mysteries are unexplained it's that the plot is getting so convoluted and confused it seems to not have any direction and this whole "others" things just does not make any sense. Even if they don't want to tell us who they are, why are they so fucking mean? Nevertheless I'm hooked and I'm going to stay with it.

It doesn't matter, anyway. They always planned on ending it next year. A show with that premise can only go on for so long. Besides, 13 million viewers is still a lot, even if it is less than their standards.

I gave up at Episode 11 Season 1. It's like watching Alias. The plot turns and turns. However, I was still surprised with the drop in the viewership. Like no one was seeing that coming.

My theory is that Heroes would suffer the same fate as Lost. I'd watched only 3 episodes and I am already not liking where it is heading.

I miss The Greatest American Hero.

Admittedly the fall story arc was weak but the two new epis since it returned have been really good. That being said a 10 pm show still needs a decent lead-in to get the ratings ABC expects and that isn't happening.

I can see moving the show away from a conflict with ratings giant Idol but my VCR/Tivo challenged friends are complaining that it's on the same time as Medium now.

Yeah hopefully that this will send a message to the producers and writers to stop stringing it along and answer some damn questions.

Anyone who stops watching now is an idiot. Its really starting to come together nicely, and the episode on wednesday about Desmond was a wonderful example of how good the show can be. The whole concept of fate was played out beautifully.

The show is for people who are PATIENT, since it refuses to give easy answers to the bigger mysteries, and the people who stay tuned to the finale (probably at the end of season 5) will be rewarded with something special, I'm certain.

"Effortless Pro" you would have rather it been a dinosaur.........?
And theyre answering 3 questions next week. =D

A.Where did Cindy go?!?
B.Where/Why did they take the children?!?
C.Jack?!? Tattooes?!? Why?

A-We already knew where Cindy went. I thought it was obvious the Others took her.
B-It looks like we'll find out to the answer to that, but this IS Lost we're talking about. I say we DON'T find out why, but we might find out where.
C-Am I the only one who doesn't care where Jack got his tatooes and why? Nothing to do with the island=don't care.

Lost has gotten beyond ridiculous. they really haven't answered ANY questions when you think of it. also they kill off people at random. you can just bank on them never killing off kate, sawyer or jack unless they just want to leave the show.

what's the deal with walt's special powers (season 1)? no one knows and now his ass is gone
what's the deal with claire's special baby (s 1)? i haven't seen that baby since season 2 still no mention about claire having to raise the baby again

then there's stupid shit that no one cares about:
charlie's on drugs, then he's off, then on again
sun's preggers but they've only been on the island for 45 days in show time so she'll never have it unless the show runs 9 years

same stupid flash backs
kate is bad news to guys and usually gets them fired, arrested, and killed(told in 18 different flashbacks) i think we get it.
jack and his dad don't get along (told 12 dif ways) got that one too
locke use to be in a wheelchair and his dad is a douche (let's tell that one again)

now the worst thing they do is introduce fine ass rodrigo santoro and have him on screen for like 5 min. wtf?

I watched every episode the first season and when they had the season finale and that puff of smoke came up I said," boring!" and never watched again. What a drawn out show! What is the secret of lost? One paragraph please. I lost enough time watching that crap.

I do too... but it's true that the huge breaks are annoying, and the convulted storylines can be... exasperating...

I stopped watching the "X Files" because of that (after only 3 seasons)... I hope they will clarify a few things, or I'll be lost for them, too...#-o

So funny because whether we like it or not, it's all true. I was excited when I heard hottie Rodrigo Santoro would be in the show. The five minutes we've seen him so far his character has been portrayed as useless and stupid, in five minutes no less. Kidnapping Sawyer, Kate and Jack should have been what people like Claire and the others needed to finally get more backstories, but alas, no one seemed to think it would be a good idea to have them stay gone for a while and THEN come back. No, we had to see them front and center, right away.

If someone told you now, what incentive would you have to watch anymore? Funny how people want it both ways. The very thing that pulled them into the show is also turning them off.

As for the ratings, despite them hitting a low for the series this past week, it was still the highest rated show for that time slot. I think with the show being an hour later now, that people are Tivo-ing it. The ratings system is behind the times and don't take things like Tivo into account.
