Chapter 15
The next few months of school passed by in a happy blur. Joel’s Mum luckily was improving even more as time went by and Joel and I’s relationship was going great. As University was going to be over soon we were both looking into jobs we hoped to get with our degrees. I knew I wanted to be writing full time but after school I was going to need a decent job to support myself and my part time job I had at the moment was not going to cut it. I sent out lots of resume’s to publishing companies and magazines and when I wasn’t doing that concentrated on my final exams.
Both of us had been planning a holiday together when we graduated and now that Joel’s Mum seemed to be doing well it now seemed like an even better time to get away. First though we had to graduate. The final exams were challenging but as I had recently become a better student I didn’t feel as lost as I had felt in exams in the past. All the studying and exams were exhausting, and I could not wait to be done.
The last exam for both Joel and I was the trickiest at all. We had two hours to write this final essay and I was majorly stressing at the start but as I got going it wasn’t so bad. Joel seemed to finish much quicker than me, but I was determined to use the full amount of time to my advantage and write the best essay possible. I finished about a minute before they said that time was up. Once I handed in my essay I raced outside to see Joel. We kissed and looked excitedly at each other. We were done, and fingers crossed, would graduate together in a few weeks. Now we just had to wait for our results.

For what felt like a long two weeks Joel and I waited for our results. I felt we had both done well in our last semester and hopefully the proof would be in our results. Finally, one morning we both woke up to the same email, we had passed and would be awarded our degrees at a graduation ceremony in about a week from now. Sometimes people had to wait a lot longer than that to have to wait a lot longer to graduate but we had a big class and I think they just wanted to get all of us graduated as soon as possible. It was such a relief to know we were getting our degrees and it was awesome to find out the Mark and Simon had also passed.
All four of us spent the last few days of graduation together. We talked of our futures and of all the good times we had experienced together. My life was on track and I was excited for whatever the future held for Joel, I and our friends.
