Mac or a PC ?

is it going to be another pointless debate between PC and Mac (the system?) again? :(

Anyway, I will go for PC...still able to use Mac though ;)

no it's just because I'm going to buy a laptop soon and I'm not sure which to go for, a mac or a pc ...

Then it depends on how good you want it to be, how much you want to pay, what you're going to use it for, how much storage you want to have, how fast do you want it to be, etc.

Off topic: Do you live in the US or Canada? You stay up really late...

Oh my another mac vs pc debate?? No way.

Personally, I would say Mac. Period.

Anyway, you could always go to the Technology forum as there are some fiery threads there about this. I hope not another debate arises from this thread ;)

Even the BBC's show Click has said that with the new OS X leopard, that Mac is the machine to get. They advised PC users thinking of getting a new computer to go with a Mac. They cost a bit more, but you get such a better machine you'll never go back to PC.

If you're not a stupid Internet user, get a PC

If you are a stupid Internet user, get a Mac.

If you need clarification, get a Mac.

Nobody showed up with the popcorn yet? :corn:

If you want a computer that just works, get a mac.

If you're broke and don't mind constant crashes, freezes and interruptions from every program as annoying Flash Animations appear in the bottom right corner telling you to update your Dell, HP, Norton or Adobe... get a PC. If you're OK with a compuer that has about 50 apps running in the background, slowing everything down and taking an extra 3 minutes just to boot up.. get a PC.

If you don't mind constant advertising on everything like your chat program.. get a PC.

I can't believe I'm getting into another one of these...

Me too...

I'm a loyal PC user simply because the software I need to use (Engineering, CAD) only exists for Windows.

And I've used much of the Adobe Creative Suite stuff on both Mac and PC, and I can't say that there's much of a difference at all. Especially with both now using the same processors, there really isn't much of a difference between the two. I think it's as much a history thing as anything that Macs are "easier to use" or are "better for editing graphics & video". It used to be that the G4/G5 processors were faster at "simple math" which is what you need for photo editing. But now that everything's based on the same processor, there's no difference.

If you want to pay a silly amount for proprietary hardware, get a Mac.

Although if it was officially possible to install MacOS on any PC-box, I'd get it.

Me too, I'd love to try a Mac OS if I wasn't forced to use Apple's expensive, ugly, hardware.

I guess I must be the only fag on earth who thinks that virtually all Apple products look shite.

Mac. The OS will take care of soooo much maintenance in the background that can easily be looked over on a Windows-based system. Other than that obvious great feature, the Mac OS is soo much more intuitive for doing anything from the simplest tasks, to networking your entire house. They do sooo much out of the box, and the OS upgrade is only $129 and has regular updates (aka mac version of SP2) at least once a month.

good luck in your comp. search

Only happens if you don't want to know how to use a PC.

I don't have any problems with my Dell note book at all, ever since I've had it. Runs fine, runs fast and hardly freezes up.

Also, you can turn off programs in the background, but if you want, you can continue looking at a Mac sucking your thumb.

I see. You wanna play it that way, do you?

Mabye the stuff you run on your computer works. I've never found video editing software for a PC that's much good and I really don't like any of the Operating systems available.

I like how all my Apple stuff works together. I can download a song on my iPhone, sync it with my laptop and then play it using my AppleTV. Everything works seamlessly together and I don't have to worry about shutting down processes or programs in the background. I can add a phone number on my phone and it updates automatically on my homepage, my email, my address book and my other two computers without me having to do anything.

Last weekend I was using a Dell lap top for a live show on Fratmen and the thing kept freezing up (this was a new one.. right out of the box) and no matter how many times I would do that Control-Alt-Delete thing, it wouldn't end the program nor would it shut off. I had to force a shut down and it would then take 15 minutes for the fucker to start back up. Maybe there are ways you can stop all those "install this" or "update thats" from happening, but why bother when I can get a computer that works better and lets me work instead of waiting around for it to decide what it wants to do?

The only way to get a PC that's anything close to stable is to install Linux on it. And although they've progressed quite a long way in the usability stakes in the last few years, it still requires a certain amount of tech-savvy to get up and running.

I's definitely be a mac guy if I was actually willing to pay money for software. Since I'm not, the penguin it is...

:-({|=
I don't think that was informative to even help in his decision... way to just be a jerk!
